Found January 29, 2009 on Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
The Mets must seal up their pitching woes before they try to land a bat. The Mets need a right handed bat in their offense which would qualify Manny Ramirez ,who is seeking a $25-30 Million dollar per year contract.

Bobby Abreu, Adam Dunn and Jason Varitek all remain unclaimed by teams and according to ESPN's Buster Olney, they might have to swallow their pride and come to terms that they won't get a multi-year deal. Olney list the Mets as a potential suitor for Abreu because he might be willing to get a 2 year deal worth $20 Million.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are looking to shed the contracts of Xavier Nady, Nick Swisher and Hideki Matsui. I would love the Mets to try and pry X-Man away from the Yankees, but a trade between the Mets and Yankees does not happen everyday.

We are still waiting for the Oliver Perez debacle to be over before we can even talk Manny, Abreu and Others... Go Mets!!
