ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers could be without set-up man Mike Adams for the next few days as he deals with a tight trapezius muscle in his right shoulder. Adams felt it Tuesday night in the eighth inning against Cleveland. He allowed two runs in 23 of an inning. He said the muscle tightened up on him during the outing and gradually got worse. He said it felt like he was shot putting the baseball instead of pitching. Adams won't throw Wednesday and then will see how he feels Thursday. He's hoping he'll miss just two or three games. "My trap started tightening up," Adams said. "It's a little more discomfort than I'm used to. You always pitch with a little discomfort. Very rarely do you pitch completely fine. Last night was a little more than I'm used to. It was bothering me enough that I couldn't finish my pitches. Hopefully it's not anything more than two or three days." Texas manager Ron Washington didn't sound too concerned about Adams. "I don't think it's serious with Adams, just a hiccup," Washington said. Without Adams, the Rangers could use a combination of Alexi Ogando, Tanner Scheppers and Michael Kirkman to get the ball to closer Joe Nathan. Texas did get some good news on the pitching front as left-hander Robbie Ross threw 28 pitches in a bullpen session and had no problems. Ross, who is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Friday because of a left forearm strain, may be ready Friday. The club will see how he feels Thursday and then make a decision. Washington said Ross will not need to make any rehab appearances.
