CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Marlins put shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria on the 15-day disabled list with a sore throwing arm before the start of their four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday.
Hechavarria hurt his right arm just above the elbow while making a throw and was scratched from Wednesday's game. He got an MRI that found no significant injury. Manager Mike Redmond said it should heal with rest.
Miami called up infielder Nick Green from Triple-A New Orleans to take his spot on the roster. Chris Valaika was at shortstop for the series opener.
The Marlins had right fielder Giancarlo Stanton back in the lineup. He'd missed the last six games with a bruised left shoulder.

The Cincinnati Reds had a guest bat boy Ted Kremer, a 30-year-old with Down syndrome, for their game on Thursday night in Cincinnati. Ted performed his duties flawlessly and was also the recipient of a special granted wish. Before the game Ted had asked third baseman Todd Frazier to hit a home run for him. Frazier recalls the moment: “He’s so funny, he said, ‘C’mon, hit me...
CINCINNATI Todd Frazier smiled broadly when he was asked about the pressure of replacing Scott Rolen at third base for the Cincinnati Reds and he said, Yeah, right. No pressure there at all, right?Yeah, no pressure for a young player stepping into the deep and wide cleats of a guy who won eight Gold Gloves, emblematic of defensive excellence.Rolen quietly slipped into the seclusion...

Bailey was on pace for a complete game shut-out if the other guy hadn’t been just as good. Oh, the rain was a problem, too.Last game
Technically, last night’s game still isn’t over, so does it qualify as the “last game”?
Homer Bailey was just spectacular last night before the rain stopped the 0-0 game after the top of the ninth inning. He struck out 10 in his 8.0 innings...

Justin Ruggiano hit a solo homer off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning Friday night, sending the Miami Marlins to a 2-1 victory that snapped the Cincinnati Reds' winning streak at four games.
It was a stunning moment for the Marlins, who have the worst record in the majors at 4-13 and had only four homers - fewest in the majors - when Ruggiano connected off the Reds' spotless...
The picture sums everything up so perfectly. The joy. The miraculous euphoria. And the true love of the game.
The Reds were clobbering the embarrassingly bad Miami Marlins in a home game Thursday night in which they had already more than locked up a victory by the time the 6th inning rolled around.
Third baseman Todd Frazier promised batboy Ted Kremer, a life long Reds fan who...
Tomorrow Tony Cingrani will take the mound for the Reds. I will have up a “what to expect from Tony Cingrani” article tomorrow morning with a full scouting report. I bought my tickets this morning to go see the game which should be an excellent pitching match up between our guy and the Marlins super prospect Jose Fernandez. I can’t wait, just hope that the weather holds off...
Quite a turnaround for the Reds, who went from dropping five in a row to winning two games in one day. A little well-timed hitting will do that.
Jay Bruce hit a pair of bases-loaded singles that sent Cincinnati to a couple of wins on Wednesday, 1-0 over the Philadelphia Phillies in the conclusion of a suspended game and 11-2 in the later one.

The fans who show up to tonight’s game at Great American Ball Park between the Miami Marlins and Cincinnati Reds will be in for a treat, assuming they are fans of strong, young starting pitching. For the Marlins, Jose Fernandez (20) makes his third big league start, while lefty Tony Cingrani (22) prepares for his first career start, although not his first appearance. Cingrani...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Jay Bruce singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of ninth inning on Wednesday, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a strange 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in a game suspended overnight because of rain.
The game resumed in the bottom of the ninth with a few hundred people in the stands. Bruce's single off Phillippe Aumont (1-2) came only 9 minutes...
Shin-Soo Choo singled, doubled and scored twice, helping left-hander Tony Cingrani get a victory in his first major league start, and the Cincinnati Reds won their fourth in a row, beating the Miami Marlins 11-1 on Thursday night.
The Reds' winning streak has featured stingy starting pitching. The 23-year-old Cingrani needed a lot of pitches, but kept up the trend.
