Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre said he thinks he's a regular third baseman or just above average. The hardware he keeps collecting means otherwise. Beltre won his second-consecutive Gold Glove Tuesday and the fourth in the last six years. He was the lone Ranger to win an award as finalists Elvis Andrus (shortstop) and David Murphy (left field) didn't make the cut. Beltre ranked first in the AL with a .974 fielding percentage at third base, which was the second-best mark of his career. The eight errors made by him were the fewest of his career and he didn't make an error after Aug. 26. He did all that despite playing part of the season with a painful abdominal injury. "They're all special," said Beltre, who is just the seventh player in franchise history to win multiple Gold Gloves with the Rangers. "It's just nice to be recognized. There's no doubt this is a little tougher. I went through a little more physical challenges and probably didn't play as much in the field as I wanted to. They're all special. I'm just happy to be recognized with this nice award." Beltre said his stomach is feeling better and he's hopeful there will be no more problems with it. Despite the honor, Beltre believes he can still make improvements in the field. "Every phase of the game you always have things you can improve," he said." I still know there are areas I can get more consistent. It's not easy. It doesn't matter how hard you work or how much you want to improve, it's always going to be a challenge. Some things you're more comfortable doing it because it's part of your game. Sometimes you have to work hard at it." Beltre is just the 12th third baseman in the majors to win at least four Gold Gloves Beltre was hoping his teammate on the left side Andrus would win his first Gold Glove. Baltimore's J.J. Hardy took the honor instead. "I'm really surprised, especially playing next to him," Beltre said. "I know how much he's improved. I know how good he is. Hopefully people will see him as I do every day and recognize the job he does every day and how much he helps our team defensively. I have no doubt in the future he'll get one." The Rangers haven't had multiple Gold Glove winners in the same season since 2005 when Kenny Rogers and Mark Teixeira won. Murphy lost out in left field to Kansas City's Alex Gordon.
