It's amazing that with just 20 days until the start of spring training, their remains over 100 unsigned free agents. That's mind boggling... Remember during the last strike, when the season started so late that there were 150 or so free agents that were never able to negotiate because of the strike. They ended up creating their own training camp in Florida, just so the could get in shape and be ready to play as soon as they were able to sign a deal with a new team. I think, they may have go that route again... One of the main obstacles to many of this years free agent crop is age. Did you know that only one free agent over 35 years old has signed a new contract this off season? That's a fact, that one player being outfielder Raul Ibanez who was signed by the Phillies. I think that teams are finally fed up with paying players top dollars, for their worst years. The Mets may have been the one shining example for the rest of the league in the last two years.
