There was a lot of talk about A.J. Burnett on Friday, but at the end of the day we heard that the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees were separated by money. The Pirates have agreed to pick up $10 M of Burnett’s salary, while the Yankees want closer to a 50/50 split. Here are the latest rumors on the potential trade:
-Ken Rosenthal reports that the Pirates are one of four teams in on Burnett. He notes that one team is on Burnett’s no-trade list. Considering the nature of Burnett’s no-trade list, I doubt he’d waive his no-trade clause for a West Coast team. Rosenthal says that the Yankees view the Pirates as the team that makes the most sense.
