Teams are beginning to finalize their rosters and as such, the moves are coming fast and furious. Yet, outside of Prince Fielder, the moves are also becoming more and more minor. So, I will take the next few weeks and update these minor moves by division once a week. Here we go with the AL East.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles had a ton of veterans at their disposal to close out the DH spot and they tabbed Wilson Betemit instead. Betemit has been a decent hitter through the years, but he really doesn’t have a defensive position. Yet, he is still a better defensive third baseman than Mark Reynolds. Then again, Pie Traynor’s corpse might be a better defensive third baseman. Betemit gets a two year contract with an option for a third.
Coming Up: With Francisco Cordero off the board, the Orioles might explore the trade market for another quality reliever. A familiar name like Koji Uehara might end up being the answer there as the Rangers are shopping him.

Cabrera, Fielder to anchor corners for Tigers
DETROIT Manager Jim Leyland confirmed that with the signing of Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera will return to his roots as a third baseman.
