Albert Pujols, meet rock bottom. Rock bottom, I'd like to introduce you to Albert Pujols.
As if Pujols' now infamous homerless streak wasn't already bad enough, you can add a new ignominious achievement to his 2012 resume: he's dropped below the Mendoza line. After going 0-for-4 against Henderson Alvarez and Toronto tonight, Albert's batting average on the season now stands at a lowly .194. To add insult to injury, Pujols was booed loudly by the home fans at Angel Stadium in his final two at-bats.
The man that a few months ago was treated like arriving royalty at his introductory press conference is now being booed. Loudly.
It is hard to blame Angels fans for getting frustrated and targeting Pujols with their frustration as his poor performance was central to the Halos getting shutout for the second consecutive game and for the sixth time this season, the most in baseball. Oh, and it was also the fifth consecutive start for Ervin Santana in which the Ange...

Pujols refuses to show frustration with slump
ANAHEIM, Calif. Every at-bat looks the same.
No matter what he does, Albert Pujols can't seem to shake himself out of his slump. He hits the ball hard, most of the time anyway, but it invariably becomes a ground ball out to third base.
He did it again Thursday night against the Toronto Blue Jays. Three at-bats became three grounders to third, one of them a double play in...
What’s going on with Albert Pujols?
The Angels finally had enough yesterday and decided to insert Mark Trumbo in at first base in place of the slumping Albert Pujols. I’m sure it’s only temporary. The general idea is to give the world-class slugger a day or two away from it all to clear his head. Luckily for the Angels, they have plenty of bats to insert in his place while he figures things out.
The...
Angels' Albert Pujols ends HR drought
Albert Pujols has hit his first regular-season home run since joining the Los Angeles Angels, ending the longest drought of his 12-year career after 33 games and 139 at-bats.
Pujols' two-run shot into the left-field bullpen Sunday came in the fifth inning against Toronto's Drew Hutchison.
Pujols was playing his 28th game for the Angels since leaving St. Louis and signing...
Albert Pujols Finally Hits First Homer of the Season with Los Angeles Angels (Video)
It's about time.Albert Pujols has had a rough year so far with the Los Angeles Angels after signing a record-contract with them this off-season. He has been a drought of not hitting a home-run. He was doing so bad that his own fans booed him on Saturday and his own manager pulled him out. Finally on Sunday, the slugger hit his first homer as a member of his new team against the...
Albert Pujols is Booed
A man in a new uniform
How quickly things change. How quickly fans turn. Just last October, Albert Pujols was celebrating his second World Series Championship, and as the best player, on the world’s best team, Pujols sat on top of the baseball world. Unfortunately for Los Angeles Angels fans, the championship trophy Pujols held was while he was in a St. Louis Cardinals’ uniform...

The Avengers of Major League Baseball
There’s this new movie – maybe you’ve heard of it – called The Avengers. It’s supposed to be pretty epic, but I’ll leave that discussion for other places. Here, it’s all baseball, so we’re not going to look at the movie, cartoon, or comic book versions of the Avengers, but rather who their baseball counterparts might be.
Giancarlo Stanton is The Hulk – Obviously...
The Orioles head to Boston; Mariano Rivera, Albert Pujols and Bryce Harper...
As the Orioles head into Boston this week, they are playing really well and flying. I’m not if what we are seeing the real Birds, or what; however, they have been a nice, pleasant surprise. They are in second place in the American League East with a 16-9 record; meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are in last place in the division, as they are 11-13. The Red Sox seem out of sorts...
The Los Angeles Angels: Behind their sluggish start
With so many massive signings, the Los Angeles Angels were the talk of baseball. Similar in tune to the Boston Red Sox of 2011, who made huge splashes with 1B Adrian Gonzalez and LF Carl Crawford. Like those Red Sox, the Los Angeles Angels are sputtering in a monumentally disappointing fashion.
The problems start with their two free agent signings. A major concern was...
