The Red Sox and Orioles played a 17-inning marathon last season at Fenway Park, with the O’s taking the win on an Adam Jones homer. The two teams went 13 frames Thursday night, but it was a much softer hit then allowed Baltimore to walk away victorious.
Chris Davis, who is known for his home-run power, knocked a bloop single into left field off Alex Wilson, bringing the winning run home from second. Wilson said he approached Davis the way he planned to, but the big first baseman was able to muscle out a base hit, bringing the extra-inning affair to a close.
