The Yankees made it pretty clear that they weren't going to let David Ortiz beat them over the weekend, issuing six walks to the Red Sox designated hitter. It's probably safe to assume that Ortiz will have a few more pitches to see Tuesday night at the All-Star Game where Ortiz will hit seventh in a star-studded lineup with a ton of firepower. Ortiz, who was voted in as the starting DH, will hit right behind his former teammate Adrian Beltre. See the AL lineup for the All-Star Game below. As the Boston Red Sox wrapped up the season's first half Sunday night at Fenway Park, injured Dustin Pedroia and nicked-up rookie Will Middlebrooks once again were on the bench. Jacoby Ellsbury hasn't played since April 13, and neither Carl Crawford nor closer Andrew Bailey has played a game all season, heading a disabled list that has featured 20 players. Soon, the Red...
Clay Buchholz assumed it was just a stomach virus. Two weeks ago, the Red Sox pitcher laid down in the team clubhouse, attempting to fight through pain in his stomach. He soon realized it wasn't a typical ailment. "[I] woke up a couple times in the middle of the night to use the restroom. Right when I stood up, got really light-headed and thought I was going to pass out...

The teams are set, now it's up to you to determine whose All-Red Sox Team you'd rather have. Red Sox Spanish radio broadcaster Uri Berenguer and WEEI's Mike Mutnansky have picked their All-Red Sox teams choosing from the best living players in team history. Take a look at the lineups below, and vote on which team you'd rather have below. Team Uri Carlton Fisk, C Mo...
It's time for the All-Star break in the baseball season, and that means different things to a lot of people. For some players, it's a chance to head to Kansas City with the honor (or burden) of playing in the Midsummer Classic. For the rest of the league, it's a chance to rest and recharge the batteries. For fans, it's a boring few days. There's a lot to look...
The war of the words is on between the Red Sox and the Yankees -- will it finally spill over into the field? In the wake of Vicente Padilla's shots fired in the direction of Mark Teixeira, the rivalry between Boston and New York could be about to explode after simmering quietly beneath the surface for quite some time now. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is hoping that the Red...
Nick will cover it in Beat Farming tomorrow, but I wanted to mention a bit about Ellsbury and Buchholz's performances in Pawtucket today since I happened to go to the game.
First of all, it was ideal baseball weather, and my spontaneous decision to attend couldn't have worked out better. In addition to Ellsbury and Buchholz, I got to see Daniel Bard, Junichi Tazawa,...

.500, two games below .500 at home (22-24) but two games above .500 on the road (21-19).
If you thought this is where the Boston Red Sox would be at the 2012 All-Star break, you would be a genius. As fans of the team, we hold them to a higher standard and for the most part, we know they do to. But sometimes it just doesn't show.
The Red Sox had a good opportunity this weekend...
we are in the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star break, I figured it would be a good time to take a look at Boston Red Sox and their performance by the numbers in through the first 86 games of the season.
As we now the team sits at .500 a mere 43-43 at the break with a sub .500 home record of 22-24 at Fenway Park, while on the road they are 21-19.
So what are the teams issues...
Well that was fun. I’m sad it had to end so soon. Watching your team get the **** kicked out of them repeatedly by their biggest rival at home in a huge series on national television to end the season’s first half is about as rewarding as it gets. The Red Sox never run out of ways to impress me.
If the huge gap (now 9.5 games) between the two teams in the American League East...
