TEAMS: Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers
Allan Webster was once a top prospect in the Dodgers organization. Now, he's one of the best in Boston's. Webster was acquired from Los Angeles on Aug. 25 when Boston traded away Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to the Dodgers. He was 0-1 in two starts in Double-A since coming over, allowing eight runs over nine innings of work. Check out the video above to hear about when Webster found out he was being traded in a profile from NESN Daily's Sox on Deck.

Clayton Kershaw may start for the Dodgers tomorrow for … some reason
After today’s loss, the Dodgers find themselves three games back of the Cardinals in the chase for the second Wild Card spot. They’re also a half game behind the Brewers, which is a significant reason their playoff odds now sit below 10% and are edging closer to 5% with every game they don’t gain ground.
Despite that, the Dodgers are considering gambling with ace Clayton Kershaw...
Taking Stock: Sox - Rays series
After every series, we'll take stock of how each individual and group performance affects their overall value.Â
Lineup
Pedro Ciriaco: Pedro's best showing came in game 3. Aside from that, He had a tough time at the plate in the series. I would go into any detail about his play in the outfield.
Jacoby Ellsbury: Jacoby looked great from the 2-spot in the series. After...
Recap: Iglesias got a hit!
Jon Lester pitched an OK game. The offense couldn't get across the plate. Sox lose 4-2 to Baltimore.
The good news is that the Sox didn't lose this game in any kind of heart-breaking fashion. Just a good old boring loss. Not much to say about the game, really. Lester threw 7 mediocre innings, giving up 8 hits, walking 3 O's with only 3 K's. All 4...
Red Sox Need Someone Other Than Jacoby Ellsbury to Step Up in Series Finale With Rays
Editor's note: The temperature gauge is a Bill James-created statistic that measures how hot or cold hitters are. We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days. Jacoby Ellsbury is red-hot at the plate right now, but he won't be in the Red Sox lineup on Thursday night when they close out their series with the Rays. Ellsbury has been heating up as of...
Alfredo Aceves' Unpredictable Nature Gives Way to Another Unpleasant Loss for Boston
Editor's note: NESN.com is going to tell the story of the 2012 Red Sox in Bobby Valentine's words. Each game day, we will select a Valentine quote that sums up the day for the Red Sox. BOSTON -- Alfredo Aceves' season is spiraling out of control. Fresh off a late-game debacle on Wednesday against the Rays, the Red Sox reliever crumbled in the 12th inning of Saturday&...
Your Morning Dump...Where ownership will look to bring in help for Cherington
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
Notes, quotes and gloats (as one of my idols in the business, Bob Verdi,
used to call them) as the Sox head into their last dozen games, assured
of their first losing record since 1997:

Should the Dodgers Rush Clayton Kershaw Back?
Baseball has a 162 game season for a reason. Â Yet, we often forget that. Â We get caught up in the excitement and story lines that catch our attention early in the year. Â I'm a victim of this, you're a victim of this, and it's part of the magic of baseball. Â Take the Los Angeles Dodgers, for instance. Â They started the year out so hot, everyone thought they'...
Dodgers 3, Reds 1(10)
Matt Kemp's two-out single with the bases loaded in the 10th inning sent the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory Friday night that denied the Cincinnati Reds on their first chance to clinch the NL Central.
The Dodgers won for only the fifth time in 15 games and moved two games behind St. Louis for the final NL wild card. They also trail Milwaukee by a half-game in the wild...
Ever heard of Keury De La Cruz? Probably not, but take notice.
Overlooked by the likes of Bryce Brentz and Jackie Bradley, there was an outfielder in the lower minors leagues of the Red Sox system in Keury De La Cruz that had Greenville Drive fans coming out to watch each night. De La Cruz, 20 was one of the most improved players in the Boston farm [...]
New-Look Red Sox Defense Might Be Able to Distract David Price Off His Cy Young-Caliber Game (Video)
The Red Sox are trying something new on Thursday night, which seems to be a recurring theme for the squad as they wind down the season. Pedro Ciriaco is going to give center field a whirl while Mike Aviles mans third base, while Bobby Valentine tries his players in some unusual spots to see what they can handle. Meanwhile, Rays pitcher David Price will be waiting on the mound, and...

Rays Walk Off on Sox to Split Series
Clay Buchholz pitched himself 7 strong innings, however the Rays would rally in the 9th and walk away with a way to split the series with the Sox. Andrew Bailey showed the first real sign of struggle since he has been back from injury and ended up allowing 5 runs to score in the 9th. It was another gut punch of a loss in a long line for the Sox.
Buchholz took the mound and pitched...

Dodgers given run on bad ump call, win by one
Your browser does not support iframes.
The Nationals are fighting to maintain the lead in the NL East and top spot in the NL for the playoffs, so they can hardly afford mistakes by their players, much less ones by the umpires. But that’s what they dealt with on Wednesday night.
The Dodgers were up 5-0 in the bottom of the 4th and had runners on second and third with two outs...
