analysis of the Phils' report card for the first quarter...

I respect ford's opinions. he writes pretty level-headed stuff about philly sports considering he writes for the inquirer. personally, i dont see any need to worry at all at this point. like ford says, the phils are going for the 22nd win tonight, and they stood at 18, 22, and 20 wins at this point in the last 3 seasons. i think it speaks volumes of the teams "gameness" that they are where they are considering that myers return to the rotation has largely been a bust, jimmy has missed so much time along with victorino, and howard having the slump to beat all slumps. brad lidge and the rest of the pen have proven themselves to be able to both keep the phils in games and finish games. utley and burrell, while cooling off, are still playing great baseball. jimmy and shane will find their stride soon. and as much as i struggle with saying this, ryan howard WILL snap out of this...or at least the jersey hanging in my closet and my copy of MLB 08 THE SHOW for PS3 are telling me...

They better friggin' win tonight!

yeah...i don't know what to make of the scouting report for kyle kendrick v. jo-jo reyes...

Scouting Report:
Braves: Reyes left Thursday's game against the Padres in the third inning after a blister developed on the index finger of his pitching hand. After the game he said he doesn't expect to miss his next scheduled start, his third of the season. Reyes allowed one earned run on five hits in 2 2/3 innings against the Padres. Against the Reds on April 30, Reyes pitched 5 1/3 strong innings, allowing one run on four hits.

Phillies: The right-hander's ERA has slowly declined over his last three starts. While he's allowed 25 hits in 19 innings against the Braves, he's limited the damage to three earned runs each time. He's tossed 11 innings spanning two starts, and posted a 4.09 ERA.

should be interesting to watch! i'll be bouncing btw the phils ad the fly guys...
