Matt Repplinger works as a baseball yoga consultant in Denver, Co., who notes that over the last 10 years yoga has become far more prevalent in baseball.
“There’s always been the chew-spit mentality in baseball, and I suppose that will always be there,” said Repplinger. “Baseball people can be set in their ways. But it’s growing, and it’s gotten to the point where guys aren’t ashamed to admit that they’re doing it.”
It probably isn’t much of a surprise that new-age aficionado Barry Zito practices yoga. But Alex

Tim Lincecum Needs to Learn How to Pitch, Not Throw
Tim Lincecum‘s resume contains the following items: 2 time Cy Young award winner, 4 time All-Star and twice World Series Champion. With all the achievements over the last 5 seasons, he was relegated to a long relief once the Giants made the playoffs because he was no longer effective as a starter. Lincecum’s problem is he can no longer just throw the ball across the plate and...

Theo Epstein: Red Sox owners wanted ‘sexy’ players
Former Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona has co-authored a book, and as expected there are parts in it that paint an unflattering picture of the way the team’s owners operate. As many of us already suspected, John Henry and company care more about the image of their team than they do about putting a winning team on the field.
In his book, “Francona: The Red Sox Years,”...

The Difference Pitching on the Edge Makes
Yesterday, Jeff Zimmerman examined how Tim Lincecum‘s performance has depended to some extent on his ability to pitch to the edges of the plate. Last year, Lincecum was one of the worst starters in the game in terms of the percentage of his pitches thrown to the black. Coincidently (or not so coincidently), Lincecum suffered through his worst season as a professional.
As with many...

Catcher Conundrum
So, going into Spring Training 2013, the Red Sox have an abundance of catchers. I'll come right out with it, I'm a big Salty fan so anyone other than him as our main man next season and I'm going to be very disappointed. It was bad enough that I suffered the trauma of Tek retiring, to deal with the trade or demotion of a Saltalamacchia as well, this could be a challenge...
