Jon Heyman of SI.com, is reporting that the Yankees are closer to a deal with lefthander Andy Pettitte on a one-year deal that is reportedly less than the $10 million dollars that was previously offered. The Yankees are in serious talks with Andy Pettitte, and there is a lot of optimism a deal will get done, SI.com has learned.Both sides are working hard to push through a one-year contract. Indications are that Pettitte will receive less guaranteed money than the $10 million the Yankees originally had on the table for two months before he turned it down. Pettitte went 14-14 with a 4.54 ERA for New York last season, earning $16 million in the process. If the Yankees do get something done with Pettitte, it will end any possibility of them signing Ben Sheets, Oliver Perez and Randy Wolf who were all fall-back options for the Bronx Bombers.
