ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings Thursday night, helping the Los Angeles Angels to a 5-2 win over the Boston Red Sox that completed a season sweep. The Angels went 6-0 against the Red Sox, with all of the games coming in the past 10 days, including three games this week at Angel Stadium. It's the first time in the Angels' 51-year history that they have swept Boston. Torii Hunter had three hits for the Angels, who have won three in a row and seven of their last nine games. With the victory, the Angels remain 3 1/2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second American League wild-card playoff spot. Greinke (12-5) allowed two runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked just two, picking up his third win since joining the Angels. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are going state-of-the-art on their player evaluations.
The Angels have partnered Bloomberg Sports, specialists in the area of sports analytic technology, to create a player evaluation system for the Angels' Operations department. The system is expected to "go live" in time for the 2013 season.

There is a lot of uncertainty about what September holds for the Los Angeles Angels, but this much is certain: The team is going to ride its ace right-hander as much as possible. Jered Weaver is lined up to start seven of the Angels' final 29 games this season, beginning Sunday in Seattle and possibly ending on the final day of the regular season there as well if the Angels...
The Los Angeles Angels' need for offensive contributions from their catchers was so obvious that general manager Jerry Dipoto's first two personnel moves when he got the job last fall were directed at addressing that glaring deficiency. Dipoto acquired Chris Iannetta from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for young right-hander Tyler Chatwood, then jettisoned weak-hitting...
I, along with many other Halo fans, have been openly griping over the lost season of Peter Bourjos during this rollercoaster of a year. Seriously, what in the world did Peter Bourjos do to deserve a year round pass to ride the pine all season long? This is a guy who was a top 5 leaders in UZR out of all CF in baseball, not just the AL, but in the entirety of baseball. I understand...

The importance of team victories cannot be stressed enough. It's one thing for a select few players to carry a team through a game or a series, but as the season dwindles down, the Angels need to play together in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.

To all those that decided to go to sleep, you made the right decision. You didn't miss much anyways. The Angels were able to get another early lead on Jon Lester and they come away with a much needed sweep, beating the Sox 5-2.
Both starting pitchers were shaky tonight, the main difference was that Lester couldn't get out of jams and Zack Grienke could. Lester gave up...
Torii Hunter Jr. discusses Prosper's preseason preparations, and recent interest from Texas.
As much as the Angels need every win from here on out, tonight was about getting that win for C.J. Wilson.
Prior to tonight's game, Wilson had gone 11 consecutive starts without earning a win (last on June 26.) It seemed the power of PMA was losing its luster.
Tonight, Wilson was able to walk into the dugout after six innings with a seven run lead, leaving his...
An injury hasn't slowed down Albert Pujols.
The Seattle Mariners, however, will try to do it again.
Pujols looks to continue his torrid hitting as the Los Angeles Angels go for an eighth win in 10 tries Friday night when they open this three-game set with the surging Mariners.
Pujols sat out last weekend's series at Detroit with tightness in his right calf, and Los Angeles...
Before the season there seemed to be no way that the Angels would wind up outside the playoffs. Now, with every passing day it appears more and more likely they won’t be in. To make matters worse for the future, they doubled down and traded three very good prospects for Zack Greinke. Greinke has not performed up to snuff and the same could be said for many of the veterans...
