MLB Injury News:
Angels' pitcher Garrett Richards took a line drive of his right (throwing) arm and exited the game in the eighth inning of last night's Angels and Mariners game. Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com said Richards "should be fine", according to pithing coach Mike Butcher.

The Mariners' batter Kyle Seager hit a 1-1 slider right back at Richards (seen here) which struck his forearm. Richards immediately pointed up to the ball so shortstop Erick Aybar could find it and make the play. The right hander did not seem to be in too much pain as he exited seemingly more upset that he could not continue his magnificent start of 7.1 scoreless innings.
Richards was diagnosed with a forearm contusion and will most likely make his next start without any hesitation.

ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES
A report says Torii Hunter and Albert Pujols nearly fought last year when they were teammates on the Angels. Hunter is now with Detroit.
LA Angels (@Angels)
After losing three of four to the Yankees and just barely avoiding being swept by the Astros, the Angels’ season is more about finding usable pieces for 2014 than it is about competing in 2013.
The Angels made a couple of minor moves Friday afternoon, designating Billy Buckner for assignment and recalling right-handed reliever Cory Rasmus to take his place...
The Los Angeles Angels have placed reliever Kevin Jepsen on the 15-day disabled list after he had surgery to remove his appendix.
Jepsen had surgery Saturday in Seattle.
The Angels also recalled outfielder Collin Cowgill from Triple-A Salt Lake City.

As the night wore on, Eric Wedge began to feel more comfortable standing back on the railing of the Seattle Mariners dugout and making baseball decisions for the first time in a month.
There just weren't many highlights for the Mariners skipper.
''My energy was good and the focus was good. Just didn't have a whole hell of a lot of action tonight,'' Wedge...
Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia refuted reports of a rift with general manager Jerry Dipoto over differences in opinion regarding moves by the organization.
FOXSports.com reported Friday that the Angels are expected to replace either Scioscia or Dipoto because of continuing ''philosophical differences'' between the two men.
Scioscia claimed Saturday such...
Things haven't exactly gone as the Los Angeles Angels hoped they would over the past couple of seasons. The high price Angels have failed to put together a contending team despite signing several players to big time contracts and part of the reason might be because of a lack of team chemistry. One of the players who was signed to a massive deal and has failed to live up to expectations...
SEATTLE (AP) -- Jered Weaver gave up just three hits in eight strong innings, Kole Calhoun added a two-run homer and the Los Angeles Angels completed a three-game sweep with a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday.
The Angels gave Weaver plenty of run support by coming through in clutch situations. The Angels first seven runs were scored with two outs, including Calhoun'...
The two-year downhill toboggan run of owner Arte Moreno's broken franchise has created a suffocatingly tense atmosphere throughout the organization best illustrated by a team meeting last August in which All-Star Torii Hunter had to be physically restrained from punching out $240 million man Albert Pujols.
The meeting details of which were provided to CBSSports.com by several...

GAME 127 - ANGELS AT RED SOX
BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox had a couple things going for them Friday night, and together they teamed up to beat the Angels, 4-1, before a sellout crowd of 33,221 at Fenway Park.
First and foremost, the Red Sox had pitcher Pedro Martinez on the mound. Martinez (17-3) gave up only...
It took the Angels 14 innings to score one run Tuesday.
It took them just nine to do the same Wednesday.
So there is that.
As far as bright sides that’s about the best the Angels can muster these days.
Another day came and went Wednesday and another loss was etched onto their ledger of despair — the Cleveland Indians completing a three-game sweep with a 3-1 victory to send...

A story from Scott Miller , Senior Baseball Columnist for CBSSports.com, includes the phrase "restrained from punching out $240 million man Albert Pujols," so you'll want to give it a look.
Here's the tale of the tape:
Albert Pujols -- 33 years old, 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, righty.
Torii Hunter -- 38 years old, 6-2, 225, righty.
Scott Miller reported that the 2012...
With the Angels sweeping the Mariners they've inched just a bit towards avoiding a complete disaster of a season. I mean, it still has been a monstrous disaster, but at least the Angels have shown enough life to look ready to avoid a 90 game losing season. It's great that the Angels can sweep when they have been showing they have almost no ability to do it consistently, but...
Weaver being Weaver. The rest of the Angels being something other than the 2013 Angels.
On a night in which the Los Angeles Angels completed a 3-game sweep of the Seattle Mariners every hitter in the Angels' lineup got a hit. This is a clear indicator that either the Apocalypse is upon us or (more likely) that the game was meaningless in terms of the playoffs.
