Found August 05, 2013 on Fox Sports:
The Los Angeles Angels have released right-handed reliever Ryan Madson, who never pitched for the team while attempting to return from elbow ligament replacement surgery. The Angels abruptly announced the move Monday before the first pitch of their game against Texas. Los Angeles signed Madson to a one-year, $3.5 million deal in late November, hoping the former Philadelphia closer could fill the same role in Anaheim. But Madson developed elbow soreness during spring training with the Angels and he never made it back to the big leagues with his hometown Angels despite rehabilitation assignments and extra work in Arizona. Madson hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2011, having season-ending surgery in April 2012 after signing an $8 million deal with the Cincinnati Reds. Madson also never pitched for the Reds.

Game of Adjustments: Josh Hamilton

By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Contributor -  This season has had more than its share of disappointments for Angel’s fans and one of the biggest disappointments has been the struggles of Josh Hamilton at the plate. Simply put Josh has been swinging at a lot of pitches outside of the strike zone and, when he does put the ball in play, he has not hit the ball quite as...

The AL MVP race: Here we go again

Last year, the AL MVP debate turned into something resembling a culture war, with Miguel Cabrera representing the traditional methods of player evaluation while Mike Trout was the darling of the sabermetric community. In the final tally, Cabrera won in a landslide, receiving 22 of the 28 first place votes, but Trout and Cabrera were #1 and #2 on 27 of the 28 ballots submitted, with...

Angels' Kendrick avoids trip to DL

ANAHEIM, Calif. Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick has avoided a trip to the disabled list, at least for the next few days, after suffering a sprained left knee Monday night. An MRI on Tuesday showed no structural damage, manager Mike Scioscia said, so the team will wait to see how quickly Kendrick recovers. "The long and short of it is, we'll give him four or five...

Angels sign well-traveled Dontrelle Willis

The Los Angeles Angels have signed veteran left-hander Dontrelle Willis out of the independent Atlantic League. The Angels assigned the two-time All-Star and former NL Rookie of the Year to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. The 31-year-old Willis had a league-leading 2.56 ERA in 14 starts with the Long Island Ducks this season. Willis hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2011...

C.J. Wilson on A-Rod: 'Stop being a baby and move on'

Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson had some harsh words for the 13 players who were suspended by Major League Baseball on Monday in the wake of the Biogenesis investigation, especially the one who got the stiffest penalty, New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez. "It's good for the game that they're finally getting him on something," Wilson, the team's union...

Angels sign Dontrelle Willis to a minor league deal

Dontrelle Willis is not ready to call it a career.  I feel like I've typed those words before, and I have.  The former sensation has struggled for years to catch on with a team, but he refuses to hang up the spikes.  Willis has agreed to a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels. D-Train coming to Anaheim? #Angels have agreed to terms on a Minor League deal with...

Los Angeles Angels sign Atlantic League's best, ink Jason Urquidez and D-Train

Mike Scioscia is widely regarded as one of the best managers in the game. His team plays a National League style, never hesitating to lay down a bunt when needed. The last few years the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been in uncharted waters. They spent big bucks on the best power hitters in the game; Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and they haven't delivered. C.J. Wilson...

Angels release injured Ryan Madson

Ryan Madson's one-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels is officially a bust.  He was coming off Tommy John surgery in 2011 and missed the entire 2012 season when the Angels signed him to a one-year deal.  Unfortunately, Madson has not made much progress in his recovery and has not pitched at all this season.  Now, the Angels have released him. #Angels have released Ryan...

Position battles of the future

The Angels season is over from a competitive standpoint.  Nothing left to do but to play out the games and see what you have headed into 2014.  Interestingly enough, it appears as though a few "quarterback controversies" are beginning to develop within the organization.  In fact, looking at the Angels' system right now, the future is chalk full of position battles...

LA Angels lose again to Rangers, 5-2

Shortly after the Los Angeles Angels lost Howie Kendrick to a hyperextended knee, they lost yet another game to the Texas Rangers. At least it didn't happen on yet another late homer, which would have made an ugly day even more painful. Adrian Beltre homered, Martin Perez pitched into the seventh inning, and the Rangers beat the Angels 5-2 Monday night after losing All-Star...

Series Preview: Rangers vs. Angels vs. Zero Percent

VS. MATCH-UP MOTTOS MONDAY, 8/5: Jerome Williams vs. Martin Perez: Do I really have to watch? Seriously, I've got recap duty tonight and I am tempted to write it in advance.
