Jered Weaver pitched six innings of two-hit ball in his return from the disabled list and the Los Angeles Angels beat the San Francisco Giants 6-0 on Wednesday night, handing Ryan Vogelsong his first loss in almost seven weeks.
Alberto Callaspo homered against Vogelsong and teammates Kendrys Morales and Mark Trumbo greeted former Angels prospect Shane Loux with back-to back home runs during a three-run eighth, helping the Halos take the rubber game of the interleague series - the first visit by the Giants to Anaheim since losing Game 7 of the 2002 World Series.
Weaver (7-1) threw 78 pitches in his first start since May 28 at Angel Stadium against the Yankees, when his back went out on him after just 12 pitches.
The right-hander, who finished runner-up in the AL Cy Young voting last season and threw a no-hitter against Minnesota on May 2, struck out three and walked two while lowering his ERA to 2.40.
San Francisco's only hits off Weaver were two-out singles by Brandon Crawfo...
BEST OF MAXIM
ANAHEIM, Calif. Jered Weaver must have counted the days. Twenty-two of them passed since the last time he pitched in a game, and every one was tortuous.
For a starting pitcher, waiting four days between starts is difficult enough. Going on the disabled list, then waiting to heal and inching back to health is almost inhumane. Pitchers want to be on the mound, not on the trainer...
I recently wrote a post at Halo Hangout asking if the Mike Trout love has gone too far. My quick, and obvious, answer was "no." In fact, Trout probably ins't getting enough love. My girlfriend, on the other hand, disagrees.According to her, a Yankees fan I might add, I write and talk about Trout too much. She's starting to get jealous. Of course, she has nothing...
Wooohooooo, I actually happen to be a pretty smart guy. Not only did I predict a Zito beatdown, but I also called for it to get the ball rolling on some strong offensive production for the Angels. A lot of things when right tonight; the small ball, the long ball, the starting pitching; and speaking of the starting pitching wasn't it awesome to see fresh off the DL Jered Weaver...
Los Angeles Angels starter CJ Wilson was recently voted MLB's most overrated pitcher from a player poll conducted by Sports Illustrated. We discuss whether he deserves that criticism and provide our own opinions on who are the most overrated pitchers in all of baseball. Here's a hint: one comes from the American League East and one comes from the American League Central...

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jerome Williams remained hospitalized for part of the day Tuesday after being taken to UCI Medical Center on Monday night. Williams was having breathing difficulties and apparently passed out in the clubhouse after being removed in the fourth inning of his start against the Giants on Monday. The Angels were not giving any details of Williams'...

The Angels continue to roll! After taking two out of three games from the San Francisco Giants earlier in the week the Angels head into the weekend series with the Los Angeles Dodgers having won eight out of their last nine series. The Halos are a season high six games over .500 and finally seem to be clicking on...
I remember hiding under the covers and listening to the Angels on a hand-held transistor radio while I was supposed to be asleep. The lights were out and the volume was down and that radio was very close to my ear. My dad was in the next room, his den, almost always listening to the game just as I was. Once in a while he’d walk over to my room, open the door and say, “we...
The Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent league are expected to sign left-hander Scott Kazmir, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. If you are wondering why Kazmir selected the Skeeters, it's not because of the awesome team name, it is because they play in Houston, his hometown.
Kazmir had pitched in front of numerous teams this past offseason including the Mets, but wasn&...
