Mets Merized Online:
Are you happy with the direction of this team?
Never mind all that 2014 mantra you keep hearing about, lets be honest here… When do you think the Mets will ever advance to an NLCS again?
Are You Happy With The Direction Of The Mets?
Robert P. – A few months ago I would have said yes, now I’m back in a wait and see mindset. The Mets can’t fall back on their home grown guys again this offseason. They need to make significant free agent acquisitions at positions where there in house options have failed. If that doesn’t happen, I don’t see the team back in the playoffs, never mind the NLCS before 2015.
Clare – Wow, tough question. I would like to see the Mets in the NLCS within the next 5 years. I know that we have a young team and we need to improve in many areas. Still, once the money situation gets straightened out and we can dump some bad contracts, I am hopeful that Sandy will go out and get the pieces we need to make the Mets contenders again. Wouldn’t it be nice,especi...
BEST OF MAXIM
When the Mets lost one of the faces of their franchise last winter, a fear coursed through the fan base that the departure of Jose Reyes was the beginning of a mass exodus. Could David Wright, the franchise’s other face, once thought to be a pillar the team would build a championship team around, be next?
The issue of Wright’s long-term future remained a cloud hanging over the...
R.A. Dickey’s quest for a Cy Young hit a speed bump tonight in a bizarre 6-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
But Dickey will have to wait at least five more days to bolster his credentials. The knuckleballer served up a season-high three home runs to the Reds on Wednesday, dropping the Mets to a 6-1 loss.
Dickey may have been thrown off his game when the umpires forced him to cut...
Familia Back On The Horse
Welcome back for another installment of the MMO Mets Minors Beat: The TGIF Edition! I’m your host Petey, and we have a lot to cover from this past week. There were some incredible pitching performances throughout the system, yet again. There were a ton of transactions, if you are into that sort of thing. And a few of the notable performers who are simply...
One of Jeurys Familia’s best starts of the season and a grand slam by Matt Den Dekker in the 7th helped the Bisons cruise to a 6-0 victory on Tuesday night.
In the 7th inning, following singles by Lucas Duda and Zach Lutz, an RBI double by Adam Loewen, and an intentional walk to Josh Satin, Matt Den Dekker hit a grand slam to put the game out of reach for Lehigh Valley.
Earler this week, Terry Collins made the announcement that the Mets are going to be trying out a six-man rotation for the rest of the season.
Starting Sunday will be Jeremy Hefner who will be able to give Johan and Chris Young, both coming off major shoulder surgery a chance to extra rest along with Jon Niese who has never finished a full season. I think that a bet like this, much...
Need For A Lefty In The Big Boy Pen? Why Not Tab The Guy You Already Have?
C.J. Nitkowski is a man among boys these days. The 39-year-old left-hander is throwing the ball extremely well at Buffalo with his version 2.0 side-arm pitching motion. As he becomes more and more comfortable with his new delivery, he feels more and more confident that he will get back to the show, despite...

First Mets GM George Weiss And First Mets Manager Casey Stengel
On October 16th, 1969 at Shea Stadium, in front of 57,367 hysterical fans the New York Mets wrote the final chapter of what is still today one of the most compelling “rags-to-riches” stories in Major League Baseball history. A team that for the first seven seasons of their existence had been a laughingstock and the...
The New York Mets have been relegated to the role of spoilers, now that they’ve fallen back in the National League playoff races. They’ll try to live up to that title this weekend when they visit Washington, DC for three games with the NL East-leading Nationals.
New York just managed to take the final game of a three-game series in Cincinnati Thursday, beating the...
Fred Wilpon is approached at Citi Field, asked about next year’s payroll and says “Ask Sandy.”
Sandy Alderson is approached a couple of days later with the same question and says “I haven’t discussed it with ownership yet.”
Which way does the wind blow? Will the player personnel budget increase or decrease further in 2013? Will moves be made to improve the disappointing...

Harvey (2-3), who had lost three straight starts after winning in his major league debut, allowed one run and four hits in 7 2-3 innings. He struck out...
Pitcher perfect(Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images)
I’ve never seen a perfect game in-person. I’ve never seen a no-hitter for that matter. I am the guy who is a lifelong Mets fan who was invited on a Friday night in June to watch Johan Santana and the Mets. I am the guy who declined. Allllrighty then!
Anyway, the point is that the drama around a no-hitter, and even moreso a perfect...
