The Diamondbacks continue to make moves to help improve the organizations depth. On Thursday, the club claimed infielder Tommy Manzella off of waivers from the Astros organization. Drafted in the third round back in the 2005 draft, Manzella spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the big league club in Houston. During the two seasons, the infielder combined to .224 with a home run and 21 RBIs. This season, Manzella has spent his entire time with the Astros Triple-A affiliate down in Oklahoma City. In 109 games there, the 28-year-old has a .230 batting average with seven homers and has driven in a respectable 48 runs. He has seen some time at second and third, but has seen most of his time at short. Manzella will be put at Triple-A for now, but if Cody Ransom continues to struggle hitting big league pitching, the infielder could be called up at any time.
