In a very surprising move, the Diamondbacks have swapped second baseman Kelly Johnson for Toronto’s second baseman Aaron Hill and shortstop John McDonald. Taking a brief glance at this deal, it is clear that both these teams made these moves in order to get both Johnson and Hill a change of scenery. Both players have struggled in the 2011 season and Arizona and Toronto probably feel that changing teams could do wonders for Johnson’s and Hill’s careers going forward. Hill was arguably the best second baseman in all of baseball back in 2009. The former first round pick back in 2003 hit .286 with an eye-popping 36 homers and 108 RBIs winning a silver slugger, appearing in his first and only All-Star Game and placing 12th in American League MVP voting.
