Indians Baseball Insider:
Around the Farm takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.
T.J. House (SP, Columbus): 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 5 K.
House threw a strong 110 pitches with 75 of them going for strikes (68.2%). He pounded the zone all night and was in complete control of the game from start to finish, and after some struggles with consistency for most of the season at Columbus he looks to have turned a corner. Over his last seven outings he has allowed no more than three runs – and that was one time – and he has allowed 10 total runs in 43.1 innings (2.08 ERA). He is pushing himself into consideration as a September callup, possibly as a long man.
Chun Chen (1B, Columbus): 0-for-5, 2 K. Boy, is it tough to follow Columbus as there are just not many prospects there and there are really no major league options on the position player front. Chen continues to struggl...

The idea of Asdrubal Cabrera batting cleanup would have been a perfectly good one two years ago when the shortstop hit 25 home runs and owned a 119 weighted runs created plus (wRC+). In fact, it would have worked last year when Cabrera's home runs dipped to 16 but his wRC+ stayed solid at 113.
This year, however, Cabrera's .293 on-base percentage, 93 wRC+, and general defensive...
Louisville- With their offense in overdrive and starting pitching on point the Clippers took the win from the Louisville Bats on Saturday. After three quiet innings Columbus took the lead and kept it for the rest of the night, only giving up a single run to Louisville and winning 8-1.
The Clippers were the first to strike early in the fourth. Jeremy Hermida led off the inning drawing...
The Indians have lost five games in a row, and lost starting pitcher Corey Kluber to a strained finger earlier this week. Now, it seems that starter Scott Kazmir may miss his next turn as well.
“He wanted to answer the bell today because he knew it was important,” Francona said of Kazmir. “But I think we’ll go back and see what we can do to try to give him maybe a couple...
COLUMBUS- Center fielder Matt Carson’s three RBI performance helped clinch a series sweep against the Louisville Bats with a 4-1 victory Friday at Huntington Park.
After knocking in infielders Nate Spears and Justin Toole with a groundball single to center field in the bottom of the third inning, Carson provided the Clippers with some extra breathing room in the eighth with a solo...
The Cleveland Indians, contenders or pretenders. That was the question before the Indians took on the Tigers in a 4 games series and lost them all. Then it was time to move on and play some winning baseball again. That didn’t happen. The Indians dropped their 5th game in a row, losing to the Los Angeles Angels last night. The Indian were beat 5-2. It is almost like the Indians...
After six straight losses, The Cleveland Indians bounce back from a 5-0 deficit to beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-5. The Indians’ Michael Bourn drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single.
The Indians were held to just one hit through five innings but the rally all started with Nick Swisher and Mike Aviles both hit 2-run homers in the 6th inning. Aviles, entered the game...
The Cleveland Indians continue to lose games, they have now lost 6 in a row and it is clear their confidence level is at a season low. The Indians are only a 1/2 above the 3rd place team and they are no 8 games out of first place. The team has no answers for what is taking place and they looked lost. With a guy like Terry Francona managing the team, I thought they could avoid falling...
Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera has been ejected in the second inning against the Los Angeles Angels.
Cabrera was ejected by plate umpire Vic Carapazza after striking out to lead off the inning. Cabrera stepped out of the box after taking a called second strike and exchanged words with Carapazza. He then struck out swinging, argued with the umpire again and was ejected. Cabrera...
Ryan Raburn signed a two-year, $4.85 million contract extension with a club option for 2016, the Indians announced on Wednesday.
Although Joe would disagree with me, this was an extension that needed to get done before Raburn tested the free agent waters this offseason. In a season of 162+ games, having productive offensive players low in the depth chart is one of the characteristics...

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Michael Bourn drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single, and the Cleveland Indians rallied from a five-run deficit to break a six-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. The Indians, held to one hit through five innings, got back in the game in the sixth on two-run homers by Nick Swisher and Mike Aviles, who entered...
Player of the Game
Nick Swisher had a kind of rough day today, playing poor defense and ending the game 1-4, but his two run home game him the largest portion of the offensive attack and he didn't allow an unearned run like Mike Aviles did. For this, he won his sixth Player of the Game award of the year.
The Indians offense rediscovered it's power...
Kazmir getting tired
While we may have denied or even forgotten about the fact that this is Scott Kazmir’s first full season as a big league starter since 2010 and that he may have a point in the season where he begins to tire or his arm and shoulder may show signs of stress. Of course the same is true for any major leaguer due to the six-month long marathon that is...
One of the Red Sox’ biggest storylines right now is their third base situation. Don’t expect Mark Reynolds to become a part of it.
According to The Boston Globe’s Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox are not interested in Reynolds, who was just designated for assignment by the Indians.
Reynolds, who has split time between third base and first base with Cleveland this season, is a classic...
Johnny Damon defended his then teammate A-Rod in 2009 because "Murdering someone... There’s plenty of things that could be worse than what he did." This weekend John Sterling, whose sole purpose is to deflect from just how stupid Suzyn Waldman really is, went there too. Phil Mushnick explains:
On Dec. 18, 1978, Bernard King, in his second year in the NBA and as a hope...
