Catfish Stew:
Last week Esteban Loaiza was arrested for DUI. This week the A's signed Scott Sauerbeck, who was arrested earlier this month for letting someone drive his car drunk. He was also charged with obstructing justice -- he ran from the cops and hid under some bushes before he was caught.
The A's got him on the cheap, obligated only to pay a prorated portion of the league minimum salary. And they do need help in the bullpen now that Steve Karsay has retired. But I question the front office's judgement for drawing more negative attention to the team. Not a winning formula.
