OAKLAND -- The A's turned the power switch on in the eighth inning on Sunday to move closer to their first postseason appearance since 2006. Yoenis Cespedes connected on his 23rd home run to break a 2-2 tie and Josh Reddick added a tape-measure blast to send the A's to a 5-2 win and series sweep of the Mariners on Sunday. In recording its fifth win in six games and 15th in 20 outings at home, Oakland moved to within 1 1/2 games of A.L. West-leading Texas and reduced its magic number for clinching at least a wild-card berth to two against the Los Angeles Angels and one versus the Tampa Bay Rays. That could change pending the result of Sunday night's game between Texas and the Angels in the second game of their doubleheader. "We feel like we can win every game, that's how we're playing right now," said A's starter Tommy Milone.
