We've heard speculation for the past year that the health of New York Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner is deteriorating. His public appearances have been infrequent and the once boisterous man known simply as "The Boss" is rarely heard from. Interesting article in the upcoming issue of Conde Nast Portfolio, which hits newsstands on August 15th. The article describes the 77-year-old Steinbrenner as looking "dreadful". He hasn't appeared at Yankee Stadium since opening day on April 2nd. This is a man who used to suffocate Yankees staffers and players with his overbearing ways. Now, he's silent and rarely seen in public. A stark contrast for those who have followed Steinbrenner closely. Even though Steinbrenner's health seems to be deteriorating, the value of the New York Yankees continue to soar. Which leads to the question, since "The Boss" isn't as spry as he used to be and his offspring seem hesitant to assume control of the team and the many entities associated with the business empire, would Steinbrenner consider selling?
