New York Yankees
The Oakland A’s kicked off their longest road trip of the year, a ten-game trip that takes them through New York, Cleveland and Seattle, by taking two-of-three games this weekend from the New York Yankees at Yankee stadium.
Friday, May 3 – A’s Win 2-0
Oakland got things going with a 2-0 shutout Friday night behind A.J. Griffin, who out-dueled the Bay Area’s own C.C. Sabathia.
Griffin lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one walk, and striking out four Yankees without surrendering a run.
Adam Rosales helped the A’s to a win with a homer on the first pitch he saw in the game. They added a run in the sixth inning when Derek Norris singled home Yoenis Cespedes.
Saturday, May 4 – Yankees Beat A’s 4-2
Saturday the Yankees evened the series by defeating Bartolo Colon, handing the A’s most consistent starter his first loss of the season.
Philip Hughes pitched brilliantly for the Yankees, shutting out the A’s for eight innings before being lifted for Shawn Kelley.

Chris Bootcheck twirled another Masterpiece Theater yesterday - seven innings, one earned run - against Lena Durham, continuing his impending assault on the Scranton RailRider record books. That one earned run doubled his total on the year, ending his 11-inning zeros streak. And if the Disney Channel has a candidate for the miracle Yankees in 2013, make no mistake - it's...
May 15 is David Adams Day in the Yankiverse. The first 5,000 fans will receive a bobbled David Adams contract, which has stuck him in Limbo (aka Scranton) until May 15, (aka David Adams Day.)David Adams is currently hitting well and playing 3B for Scranton, which would had made him a Yankee now, but for the MLB rule that forbids teams from immediately resigning minor leaguers after...
The New York Yankees have purchased the contract of right handed pitcher Preston Claiborne from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. To make room for him the organization has opted to designate right handed pitcher Cody Eppley for assignment. Claiborne is expected to pitch in middle-relief.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Andy Pettitte says he has no feel for his pitches after a second straight poor start. “Everything has been great in my [bullpen sessions]. But something is going on in the games,” Said Pettitte.
TAMPA, Fla. — Alex Rodriguez is back on the field for the first time since surgery on his left hip almost four months ago.
He joined a group of injured New York Yankees starters Monday at the team’s minor league complex. The 37-year-old third baseman ran, played catch and hit off a tee.
Rodriguez said it’s “like being 8 years old again when I first grabbed a bat.” He added...
Which team do you think has been the most surprising in the American League to start the year? Which team would you think has been the most disappointing? I can give you a clue on who are my lead teams for both categories.
After a month of baseball not much has changed for a few teams in the American League from where they left off last season. In the AL Central the division leading...

The Yankees left New York after losing a tough series to Oakland, and now head into an unfamiliar ballpark already puts the team at a disadvantage.
Here are three potential issues that could arise for...
Photo Credit: yesnetwork.comHe’s one of the lesser-known top paid players in Major League Baseball for the past few years. Vernon Wells. For the past three years he has been the second highest paid player overall ($24,187,500), trailing behind the notoriously highest paid Alex Rodriguez ($30 million). Only paid a few million less than Arod but his name is less seen in the tabloids...
Alex Rodriguez has finally hit the field nearly four months since having hip surgery on January 16. On Monday he joined several injured New York Yankees teammates for a workout at the team’s minor league complex in Tampa, Florida.
The 37-year-old third baseman hit off a tee, ran and played catch. While that doesn’t seem significant, the fact that he actually got back on a...
How does a $200 million team have no bench, whatsoever? The next three nights, we may have to see Mariano play SS.Our usual SS, Eduardo Nunez, is listed as day to day. He has a bad rib. That can be really tricky. If Eduardo can't play, it means Jason Nix takes the slot. And it means if he comes up in the late innings, we cannot pinch hit for him. Even Francisco Cervelli - our...
New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is back playing baseball for the first time since undergoing surgery on his left hip four months ago.
Rodriguez joined outfielder Curtis Granderson (broken right forearm), first baseman Mark Teixeira (right wrist), infielder Kevin Youkilis (lumbar spine sprain), and catcher Francisco Cervelli (broken hand) at the Yankee’s minor...
However we feel about Alex Rodriguez, can we agree that yesterday, the man did something nice? He was the lone rehabbing player down in the Tampa clinic - the Yankee Hebrew Home at Riverside-South - to step outside the security fence and sign autographs for fans. He did this for about 30 minutes. It drew reporters the way a melted popsicle attracts ants. Naturally, the brotherhood...
The first thought readers will get after reading this headline is how I am knocking the Yankees. It could not be further from the truth. I am actually giving the team credit for its 18-12 start, something that did not seem possible given the amount of injuries the team has had to deal with. It all started with the Derek Jeter broken ankle in the 2012 postseason and continued with...
If Jason Nix didn't either hit a foul ball pop up caught by an infielder, or strike out, with Yankees in scoring position, we would have already won 6 more games instead of lost them. This guy should never be allowed to hit at an important moment in a game. His .200 BA was built by two out singles, with no one on, in games that were either already won or lost based upon unbalance...
