The Oakland A’s kicked off their longest road trip of the year, a ten-game trip that takes them through New York, Cleveland and Seattle, by taking two-of-three games this weekend from the New York Yankees at Yankee stadium.
Friday, May 3 – A’s Win 2-0
Oakland got things going with a 2-0 shutout Friday night behind A.J. Griffin, who out-dueled the Bay Area’s own C.C. Sabathia.
Griffin lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one walk, and striking out four Yankees without surrendering a run.
Adam Rosales helped the A’s to a win with a homer on the first pitch he saw in the game. They added a run in the sixth inning when Derek Norris singled home Yoenis Cespedes.
Saturday, May 4 – Yankees Beat A’s 4-2
Saturday the Yankees evened the series by defeating Bartolo Colon, handing the A’s most consistent starter his first loss of the season.
Philip Hughes pitched brilliantly for the Yankees, shutting out the A’s for eight innings before being lifted for Shawn Kelley.
