Found May 28, 2013 on BaySportsNet:
The A’s are playing well at the moment – they have a 29-23 record and are within striking distance of the first-place Texas Rangers in the A.L. West. They’ve managed to get off to a strong 2013 start utilizing a backup infield tandem of Adam Rosales and Eric Sogard – an area of the team’s roster that could (and should) be in line for an upgrade. Sogard impressed in Spring Training and earned a spot on the Opening Day roster as a result. The season-ending injury dealt to Scott Sizemore in early April gave Rosales the opportunity to claim the second backup role, but in the almost two months since then neither player has been particularly impressive on offense or defense. The strong play of perennial prospect Grant Green, however, is making a strong case for his promotion to the big-league team. The same can be said for Japanese infielder Hiroyuki Nakajima, who is also playing for the River Cats while coming back from a hamstring injury picked up in late March. At some point, the A’s a...

Why I Love Josh Donaldson

Let’s start this off the right way. I do not think Josh Donaldson will continue this level of performance. I highly doubt he ends the season with his current BABIP of .361 or a home run per fly ball ratio of 16.3%. Those numbers are both well above his career norms and the league average rates. That means his on base percentage will likely drop a good amount and his home run total...

Yoenis Cespedes Somersault Web Gem Attempt

Oakland Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes went full out with a somersault attempt on a dying line drive. Cespedes came up short on the web gem but received a 9.5 from the judges for form, but lost technical points for the landing. The post Yoenis Cespedes Somersault Web Gem Attempt appeared first on Baseball Hot Corner.

Reddick Takes First Step In Return To A's

STOCKTON - The Oakland A's have played most of the month of May without one of their most valuable players from their 2012 AL West division-winning club: outfielder Josh Reddick. Reddick has been rehabbing a sprained wrist and he made his first minor league rehab appearance on Monday in Stockton. Chris Kusiolek caught-up with Reddick after that rehab appearance.

Reddick's Road Back To Oakland Continues

WEST SACRAMENTO - In his second rehab appearance, Oakland A's outfielder Josh Reddick went 1-for-3, and he showed off wheels in the Sacramento River Cats' 9-4 win.

Just Call Josh Reddick The Heartbreak Kid

Tuesday night, a rehabbing Josh Reddick took the field for the Sacramento River Cats, going 1-for-3 with a single, a stolen base and a team-high three runs scored. And based on this...the Oakland A's outfielder is nearly back to form. Nice.  Given Reddick's past, it makes perfect sense that the 26-year-old would be using Shawn Michaels' music. Reddick...

Athletics 4, Giants 1

Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer to back Dan Straily's strong start, and the Oakland Athletics beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 in the Bay Bridge Series opener Monday. Straily (3-2) tossed six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and one walk. Buster Posey's groundout in the sixth inning drove in San Francisco's lone run. Donaldson connected against Madison...

Yoenis Cespedes pulls off impressive somersault...while failing to catch blooper (GIF)

Oakland Athletics left fielder Yoenis Cespedes fully laid himself out to try to snag a blooper during Monday's game against the San Francisco Giants. Cespedes failed to catch the ball, but did manage to pull off an impressive somersault in the process. Cespedes made up for it with a double and 2 RBIs to help the A's to a 4-1 victory. H/T NIS. Baby Manny has a tough decision to make as he enters childhood.Should he side with his mother and be a San Francisco Giants fan? Straily Stays Hot, A’s Prevail Over Giants In Opener of Bay Bridge Series

Dueling cheers of “Let’s go Oakland” echoed by those of “Let’s go Giants” bounced off of the upper deck tarps and swirled through a sold out Coliseum crowd along with a gentle mist on an overcast day in Oakland to open the Battle of the Bay series Monday. The only thing fans of the Bay Area rival teams could agree upon was a “USA! USA!” chant to honor the military...

WATCH: Yoenis Cespedes makes feeble attempt at ball, then somersaults

Cuba has never been a gymnastics power in the Olympics, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have skills.  Oakland Athletics outfielder (and native of Cuba) Yoenis Cespedes makes a ill-advised attempt at a diving catch in Memorial Day’s tilt with the San Francisco Giants, then goes through with the 360 cartwheel somersault, dismounting and not really sticking the landing.  The...

Athletics-Giants Preview

While the surging Oakland Athletics have regrouped from a poor stretch, San Francisco Giants starter Tim Lincecum can't seem to solve his inconsistency. Oakland seeks a sixth consecutive win as it visits Lincecum and the Giants on Wednesday night. The A's (30-23) began the season winning 12 of their first 16 before an 8-18 slide dropped the defending AL West champions below...
