Houston's prospects got the best of the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
Playing a lineup of mostly minor leaguers in their last exhibition game, the Astros beat the Cubs 6-3. The Cubs began the game with most of their regular starters.
Houston right fielder Domingo Santana was a home run shy of the cycle and drove in two runs. Astros shortstop, 18-year-old Carlos Correa, the top overall pick in the 2012 draft, went 3 for 4 with a sacrifice fly.
Cubs starter Travis Wood yielded five hits and two runs with a spring-best seven strikeouts in 4 1-3 innings. It was an improvement from his last start when he allowed seven hits and four runs in four innings.
Chicago began taking out its starters in the third inning.

Your browser does not support iframes. A shirtless Chicago Cubs fan made an extra effort to keep cool during the late innings of Thursday's Chicago Cubs spring training game in Mesa, Arizona when he asked a beer vendor to pour a cup of ice water over his head. After the initial shock, the fan appeared to feel pretty refreshed. We hope he gave that beer vendor a nice tip for...
Scott Feldman threw five innings (65 pitches) of two-hit ball with seven strikeouts, but the Inland Empire 66ers (Los Angeles Angels Hi-A affiliate) edged the Daytona Cubs 2-1 on Field #3, and Rock Shoulders clubbed an opposite field HR over the left-centerfield fence, Willson Contreras drilled a triple, and Oliver Zapata followed with an RBI double to highlight a three-run 7th that...
Roni Torreyes knocked-in three runs with a bases-loaded triple, John Andreoli tripled and walked, scored two runs, and drove-in two more, Rafael Lopez reached base three times on a double, a single, and a walk, and scored three runs, and Alberto Cabrera tossed five innings of shutout ball with five strikeouts and four relievers threw four perfect innings, as the Tennessee Smokies...
The Chicago Cubs have played at Wrigley Field since 1916. Ivy covered brick wall in the outfield, the manual scoreboard, the bleachers, and of course the red marquee out front that welcomes you to the Friendly Confines. All of these things help make Wrigley such an iconic ballpark, and are a key part of the history of the baseball team on the North Side of Chicago. I personally...
Even though the trade took place a year ago, fans still clamor for Tyler Colvin who was sent to the Colorado Rockies along with DJ LeMahieu for Ian Stewart. With the way Stewart performed here for the first half of the season before landing on the disabled list, and how well Colvin and LeMahieu performed last season, one would have a hard time arguing that this trade was a win for...
RLYW posted their annual projections blowout this week. The Cubs win between 72 and 74 games with all the projections and average 74 wins.

Yes, a Zubaz pants giveaway is in store for Chicago Cubs fans. It's an ugly, but pretty exciting move, if we say so ourselves.
Chicago's Edwin Jackson got off to a slow start on Friday night against the Houston Astros. When he settled down, he was almost unhittable.
Jackson struck out nine as the Cubs and Astros played to a 6-6 tie in 10 innings in an exhibition game.
Jackson plunked leadoff hitter Jose Altuve before walking Brett Wallace. Chris Carter then doubled in a pair with one out before Jackson...
The windows are opened. The air is warm. The last Spring Training Cubs game is set to go on my tablet. It’s almost time to hear Pat Hughes call out ”Chicago Cubs Baseball is ON THE AIR”… for real. The long winter and even longer spring training is almost over.
With more drama off the field than on the field, with the renovations, negotiations, and fighting with...
It's 2013.If you're a Cub Fan and you don't have a sense of humor, you're in the wrong line of work.
There are a lot of reasons that I write for World Series Dreaming. Respect and adulation that comes for writing for such an esteemed blog is one perk. The massive pay check for each blog doesn’t hurt either, but the real reason I do it is for the exclusives that only World Series Dreaming brings you. Tonight before the Cubs open their season we have another such exclusive...
