Chris Carter's three-run homer put Houston ahead in the third, and the Astros held on for a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night. The win ends a six-game skid for the Astros. The road woes continued for the Angels, who have dropped eight of their past 10 away from Anaheim. Jose Altuve also homered for Houston, and the Astros took advantage of three errors by catcher Hank Conger to score five unearned runs. Houston trailed by two entering the third inning before Carter's team-leading seventh homer capped a five-run inning and gave the Astros a 6-3 lead. Mark Trumbo hit his ninth home run for Los Angeles, a three-run shot in the first inning. Howie Kendrick hit a solo homer off Dallas Keuchel in the sixth, and Alberto Callaspo got Los Angeles within 7-6 with a two-run blast off Travis Blackley in the eighth. Jose Veras threw a perfect ninth for his third save. The Angels' 11-21 record ties their worst start through 32 games in franchise history. The ...

Humber moved to bullpen for Astros

The Houston Astros have moved struggling starter Philip Humber out of the rotation and into the bullpen. Just a year removed from pitching the 21st perfect game in major league history, Humber has had a terrible start to 2013. He is 0-7 with an 8.82 ERA. Dallas Keuchel, who started in Triple-A this season before joining the Astros, will take start on Friday against Texas. Keuchel...

Angels Jered Weaver expected to throw off mound Thursday

The Los Angeles Angels are a sickening 10 games under .500 this season - sickening if you are GM Jerry DiPoto or owner Arte Moreno.  Sickening if you are an Angels fan or an Angels player.  However, one help is on the way.  Ryan Madson is inching closer to a return, and Jered Weaver is set to throw off a mound for the first time since fracturing his elbow says Alden Gonzalez...

The time is now for Scioscia and the Angels to part

There is a new entry on the extinct species list: the Scioscia apologist. As of today, I am done. Done with sticking up for Mike Scioscia. In the struggles of the last few years there have been few who have defended Scioscia as ardently as I have. But now I must relent and admit that it is now time for the Angels to fire Mike Scioscia. And I mean that literally they need to fire...

Extension suggestion: Mark Trumbo

As the baseball world patiently waits for the Angels and Mike Trout to do the right thing and agree to a lengthy and borderline ridiculous contract extension, there are other concerns that need to be addressed. In this new baseball landscape, just about every single All-Star-ish caliber player signs a contract extension that buys out at least one year of free agency. Since the...

Los Angeles Angels Catcher Hank Conger Proves Why You Never Say Die

From Little League up through the professional ranks coaches always tell their players to run it out; to never say die. You never know when fate and luck (good for you or bad for the other team) will intervene and give you that extra second or two needed to make it down the base line. Angels catcher Hank Conger must have listened, because even though he stumbled on this play he...

Angels Classic Rewind | Dateline: May 8th, 2002

By Joe Haakenson, AngelsWin.com Contributor -  MAY 8, 2002 GAME 32 - TIGERS AT ANGELS ANAHEIM -- Troy Glaus could have kicked himself after fouling off a 3-2 pitch that was out of the strikezone. But the Angels' third baseman would atone for his mistake. On the very next pitch, Glaus hit a game-winning homer leading off the ninth inning that gave the Angels a 3-2 win...

Despite injuries, poor start, Angels not looking to make any trades

It would be easy to push the panic button in Los Angeles.  This is true whether you are a Dodgers or Angels fan.  Both teams are struggling in the early going of the 2013 season, but the Angels are probably the more disappointing of the two.  They have suffered injuries to key players like Jered Weaver, Ryan Madson, Albert Pujols, and others, yet there are no plans for the...

Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout hat giveaway promotion is awesome

The Los Angeles Angels will be giving away trout hats in honor of superstar phenom Mike Trout on June 18 against the Seattle Mariners.

Angels closer vents on Twitter

Many an Angel fan is pretty pissed off that the Angels just keep finding new ways to lose. It turns out the players aren't too pleased with it either and one of them, closer Ernesto Frieri, let his frustrations bubble over into this tweet: This is not fun anymore! — ernesto frieri (@ernasty49) May 8, 2013 Ernie. It is a pretty tame tweet, all things considered...

Do You Love Mike Trout Enough to Look Completely Ridiculous?

Thought so. You can snag one of these fancy Trout caps when the Los Angeles Angels face the Seattle Mariners (how fitting) on June 18. Not in the Anaheim area? No problem. Since the less-fancy, first edition foam Trout hats are going for roughly $25 on eBay, the newer models will likely be bartered online in no time.  Besides, they really don't look any more ridiculous...
