Washington Nationals third base coach Bo Porter arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport on Thursday to interview with Houston Astros officials as the club searches for its next manager.
Astros owner Jim Crane picked up Porter at the airport.
Both Crane and Porter declined comment to FOX 26 Sports and MLB.com.
Porter becomes the first known candidate to interview for the job.
He is in his second season as the Nationals third base coach.
Porter, who makes his offseason home in Houston, spent one sent on the Major League staff with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010.
He began that season as the Diamondbacks third base coach, but was promoted to bench coach replacing Kirk Gibson who took over as manager in July.
Prior to that Porter was the Miami Marlins third base coach and outfieldbaserunning instructor from 2007-2009.
