MLB Injury News:
Jose Altuve had to leave yesterday's game after just six innings because of tightness in his left quadriceps. He has not yet been diagnosed with a strain, but the team will evaluate him further today. If he experiences continued tightness and pain, the team may upgrade the diagnosis to a strain which could result in a trip to the DL.
Brian McTaggart of MLB.com says Astros manager Bo Porter was going to give Altuve the day off today regardless of the injury, so the timing works out. He will get two days off with Monday's off day. If the injury doesn't heal on its own by then, Altuve may have to get additional treatment. However, Altuve is not concerned. He said with confidence he'd be ready for Tuesday's game.
Altuve just recently signed a four-year extension. The deal is very team friendly, especially if Altuve continues to perform as well as he has to this point. He is the main piece of the Astros' current rebuilding process. Of course, the team will need more than a middle-infielder to launch this rebuild, but Altuve is a nice start.
This season, Altuve is hitting .280/.318/.359 with 25 stolen bases. His speed and defense, as well as his ability to get on base, make him an exciting player. The Astros didn't waste any time in making sure they had him for years to come. Altuve is in his third Major League season and would have been eligible for arbitration next season. Now, he's got a guaranteed contract, and the Astros have a player they know they will be able to continue to afford for the next four years.

I don’t know much about him, but it seems like a no risk move. I don’t expect him to close, though I do think it’s reasonable to believe that he’ll be the setup guy.
I’m afraid this means that Octavio Dotel is done for the year.
