What Exactly are the Houston Astros doing?
I hate to focus on the local team as much as I do, but the news comes fast and furious when new owners and new general managers take over. Now, the Astros have a director of decision sciences in Sig Mejdal and a new statistical analyst in Mike Fast. These two moves alone represent a 180 degree turn from where the organization has been. Suddenly, an organization that pays attention...
Update: Bryce Harper is not a fan of the Redskins, Georgetown, Wizards, or Caps...
...loves the Nationals though.
Bryce Harper has been taking questions from his Twitter followers over past week, which is a pretty cool thing. That's how the world found out that his puppy Swag would, in fact, accompany him to Washington when he arrives, and that he showers four times before a game as part of his pregame routine. Last night, Harper reminded DMV sports fans...

The Astros Shall Henceforth Be Known As...the Astros.
Change is scary. It takes us out of our comfort zones, forcing us to conform to a whole new set of societal norms and accept things that are both foreign and unnerving.
It doesn't matter if this change is for the better. The end of a toxic relationship, the big move to a big city, starting a new job with new challenges and a bigger paycheck. And of course, the renaming of our...

Bogusevic excited to compete for right-field job
Brian Bogusevic is no stranger to the back fields of Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, Fla., where the Astros will gather in less than three weeks to start Spring Training. This will be his seventh spring camp in the Houston organization, but he'll come in with more confidence than in years past.
Nats look to Lidge for veteran leadership
Although Brad Lidge has closed for the vast majority of his major league career, he'll step into a setup role with the Washington Nationals in 2012. The Nats are hoping the 35-year-old veteran can help provide leadership to a promising young bullpen.
Player Profile #94: Stephen Strasburg | SP | WAS
If we learned anything from Jordan Zimmermann‘s 2011 season, it was how the Nationals elect to ease their pitchers back from Tommy John surgery. Zimmermann pitched 161 1/3 innings last season, and we can likely expect the same total from Stephen Strasburg this season. When he does pitch, though, you can be assured of two things: strikeouts and more strikeouts. It will probably...

New Houston Astros owner Ben Crane informed fans on Monday that the team will continue to known as the Astros."One thing we're not going to change is the name. We received strong feedback and consensus among season-ticket holders and many fans, and we will not be changing. Astros are here to stay. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you at the ballpark...

Also joining NESN is former journey man slugger Matt Stairs, who played for the Red Sox in 1995. Stairs was used primarily...
