Jarrod Parker pitched eight sharp innings while Coco Crisp homered and drove in five runs, leading the Oakland Athletics over the Cleveland Indians 7-0 on Sunday for a three-game sweep. Brandon Moss also homered and Cliff Pennington scored three times. The A's won their fourth in a row and moved 10 games over .500, matching their high mark of the season. Shin-Soo Choo singled twice for the Indians, who have lost five straight on their nine-game road trip. Parker (8-7), possibly pitching to keep his spot in the rotation following three consecutive losses, gave up six hits, struck out two and walked one. He retired 16 of his final 18 batters.

A's win fourth straight game

OAKLAND, Calif. - One day after celebrating the 10th anniversary of winning an American League-record 20 consecutive games, the Oakland Athletics extended their current winning streak. Coco Crisp hit a three-run homer and had a career-high-tying five RBIs, and Jarrod Parker pitched eight shutout innings, giving up six hits, as the Athletics routed the Cleveland Indians 7-0 on Sunday...

Indians take on an old friend, Bartolo Colon

If the Oakland Athletics are to remain unlikely participants in the AL wild-card race into September, they'll want to keep taking advantage of the Cleveland Indians' dismal August. The A's send Bartolo Colon to the mound against his original major league team Saturday night as they look for a third straight victory. Oakland (63-55) has wavered a bit following its stunning...

Box Score: Athletics 7, Indians 0

It was Bartolo Colon yesterday, and it was another former Indian in Coco Crisp today. Crisp hit a 3-run blast and had 5 total RBI as the Athletics completed the three-game sweep and demolished the Indians 7-0. Justin Masterson got torched for 7 runs and 9 hits in another abysmal outing for our number one starter. Ubaldo Jimenez will face former Indian Kevin Milwood tomorrow night...

Oakland A's acquire SS Stephen Drew from Arizona

The Oakland Athletics continue to be surprise entrants in the Wild Card race.  Some in baseball keep waiting for them to come back to earth and drop out of the race, but apparently Billy Beane isn't one of them as he just pulled off a trade for shortstop Stephen Drew from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for shortstop prospect Sean Jamieson. This trade is probably...

A's 7, Indians 0

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Coco Crisp hit a three-run homer and had a career-high-tying five RBIs and Jarrod Parker pitched eight shutout innings, giving up four hits, as the Oakland Athletics routed the Cleveland Indians 7-0 on Sunday afternoon. Oakland has won four straight to move to a season-high-tying 10 games over .500 to stay a half game behind Baltimore for the second Wild Card...

A's Anderson will make his first 2012 start on Tuesday

The Oakland A's activated left-handed pitcher Brett Anderson from the 60-day disabled list on Monday, and he is scheduled to make his first major-league start of the season on Tuesday against Boston. Anderson had Tommy John surgery performed on his left elbow on July 14, 2011, and he has not pitched in a major-league game since June 5, 2011. He made six appearances, including...

Tribe's late rally falls flat in loss to A's

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Yoenis Cespedes homered and drove in three runs, Bartolo Colon won his third consecutive start at home and the Oakland Athletics beat the Cleveland Indians 8-5 on Saturday night. Josh Donaldson had two hits and an RBI while Coco Crisp added two-run triple for Oakland, which won its third straight after entering the night one-half game behind Baltimore for...

Oakland's Anderson set to make first start in more than a year

Brett Anderson officially rejoined the Oakland A's more than 13 months after his July 14, 2011 Tommy John surgery, and he will start Tuesday night's game. The team will welcome another newcomer Tuesday -- the A's acquired shortstop Stephen Drew from Arizona during their 7-2 loss to the Twins on Monday night. Drew, a free agent after the season, was acquired for Class...

A 'Spark' For A's Minor League Hitters

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA - The Oakland A's haven't had a winning season since 2006. It’s no coincidence during those five down years, Oakland has struggled to develop hitters who have succeeded at the major league level. That has changed this season, as the team has received sizable contributions from promoted players such as Brandon Moss, Chris Carter, Derek Norris and most...

Athletics 8, Indians 5

Yoenis Cespedes homered and drove in three runs, Bartolo Colon won his third consecutive start at home and the Oakland Athletics beat the Cleveland Indians 8-5 on Saturday night. Josh Donaldson had two hits and an RBI while Coco Crisp added two-run triple for Oakland, which won its third straight after entering the night one-half game behind Baltimore for the second wild-card spot...

Oakland Athletics acquire Stephen Drew from Diamondbacks

The Oakland Athletics have acquired shortstop Stephen Drew from the Arizona Diamonbacks for infielder Sean Jamieson. The addition of Drew with help fill a need at shortstop for the A’s, as Cliff Pennington and Adam Rosales have failed to provide much offense for manager Bob Melvin. Drew, a former first round pick by the Diamondbacks in the 2004 amateur draft, is batting just .193...

Bartolo Colon Easily Handles Tribe Bats

Some 13 years ago, I had a Nintendo 64 and “All-Star Baseball 2000″. I got my parents’ money’s worth on that game dozens of times over as my dad and I would play for hours on end. In that game, based off the 1999 roster, Bartolo Colon was the Indians’ ace. He sported a fastball, curveball, slider, and changeup. That fastball I vividly remember: 98, 99, 98, and so on as...

Twins-Athletics Preview

After struggling earlier this month, the Oakland Athletics seem to have gotten back on track. Facing the Minnesota Twins could help them keep it going. The Athletics look to win their fifth straight Monday night when they begin a three-game home series against the slumping Twins. Oakland (65-55) starts the week a half-game back of the second AL wild-card spot after completing a...
