The Braves are 7-1 in their past eight games (7-2 in September) and have won five consecutive games, but run into a hot team in the Brewers, who have won 15 of their past 20 behind 3B Aramis Ramirez and OF Ryan Braun, the reigning NL MVP. The Braves are off Thursday before hosting East Division leader Washington, which has lost two of their past three games and lead the division by 5 games. Kris Medlen, who will start against Washington on Friday, keeps winning, but his scoreless streak ended at 40 23 innings when he allowed two runs in Saturdays win over the Mets. He also allowed a home run for the first time in 53 innings, but improved to 7-0. The Braves have won the past 19 games hes started, dating to 2010. Mike Minor will start for the first time since taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his last start. Whos not: Freddie Freeman is 6-for-32 in his past 10 games with one home run and three RBIs. Hes had one hit in his past 23 at-bats and his average has fallen to .262, its lowest point since July 7. Paul Janish is hitless in his past 10 at-bats. Paul Maholm pitched 5 13 shutout innings in Fridays win over the Mets, but he allowed seven runs in 7 13 innings in his two starts last week. Michael Bourn has been caught stealing in two of his past three attempts. Injuries: Atlanta: P Brandon Beachy (Tommy John surgery) will be out until next summer; OF Matt Diaz (thumb), SS Andrelton Simmons (hand), P Jair Jurrjens (groin) and P Ben Sheets (shoulder) are on the 15-day DL.
