Reds finalize Opening Day roster

The Reds needed to trim the roster size down to 25 players by Monday. On Sunday, they did so by effectively putting the final touches on the Opening Day roster. Honestly, there really wasn't much wiggle room in the makeup of the team. Of the 25 spots, 22 were pretty much already locked down. However, the final bench spot and the last two bullpen spots were thought to be up...

Reds boast healthy presence in ESPN's top 500 player rankings

Slowly but surely, day-by-day, the ESPN Baseball Tonight crew has been unveiling its rankings for the top 500 players in Major League Baseball for 2013. The series began on March 20 and concluded on Friday, with the unveiling of the top 10 players. As you might imagine, several Reds made the cut. CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Reds made their final bullpen moves on Sunday, sending right-handed relievers Logan Ondrusek and Jose Arredondo to the minors. Ondrusek, who struggled with his control during spring training, was optioned to Double-A Pensacola. Arredondo, who appeared in 66 games last season, was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds chose to keep left-hander Manny...

Opening much more than baseball in Ohio city

Opening Day in Cincinnati is about much more than baseball. It's a holiday that dates to the late 19th century that's celebrated with a colorful parade that winds through downtown and elaborate pregame ceremonies on the field. People with or without game tickets flock to street parties, tailgating gatherings and park picnics. There's usually an amnesty for truant students...

30-1 MLB countdown previews: #3 Reds

The Cincinnati Reds remind me of the 2007-2008 Philadelphia Phillies. A team that has been ready to win for a couple years; the only difference: they won a division title in 2010 in addition to their NL Central crown last season. Attention has shifted to teams such as Washington and Los Angeles, as well as the World Series Champion Giants and the Cardinals, who were in the NLCS for...

2013 Reds' Record Prediction, Roster, Lineup, Etc.

The Cincinnati Reds won a whopping 97 games last year and expectations are even higher entering the 2013 season. While I have no doubt the Reds are a better team, I don’t think they’ll reach their win total of last season. A lot went right for them during the 2012 regular season when they didn’t have a starting pitcher miss a start and their run-differential of plus...
