In Minor League baseball, the norm is often turnover among coaches and players, with 30 new faces in the clubhouse every year. However, this coming 2012 season, fans of the Blaze will recognize two-thirds of the coaching staff from a 2011 squad that narrowly missed the California League Playoffs.
Ken Griffey Sr. and Rigo Beltran will both return, and will be joined by new hitting coach Eli Marrero.
Perhaps most excitingly, all three members of the 2012 Blaze coaching staff are former Major League ballplayers with a combined 34 years of Major League service.
The 2012 season will mark Ken Griffey, Sr.’s second full year as a manager after spending the 2010 season as the hitting coach with the Dayton Dragons, Cincinnati’s Class-A Midwest League affiliate.
The hitting coach will be Eli Marrero, who was the hitting coach in Billings last summer.

The Bakersfield Blaze have announced their field staff for the 2012 season. Ken Griffey Sr is returning as the manager, Rigo Beltran is returning as the pitching coach and Eli Marrero will be the hitting coach after spending last season with the Billings Mustangs in the same role.
