Top 5 Free Agents

#1). Dexter Fowler COL OF.297 AVG. 31 R 8 HR 28 RBI 5 SB

You have to love Fowler for a bunch of reasons, the number one being the fact that he plays all of his homes games at Coors Field. Fowler should easily end the year in the 20/20 club, with room for possible growth.

#2). AJ Ellis LAD C .314 AVG 18 R 5 HR 23 RBI

With the overall lack of depth in the catching position, it’s crazy to see Ellis still widely available. He’s probably due for some regression, but there’s a good chance he’s an upgrade for most at the catching position.

#3).  Paul Goldschmidt ARI 1B .270 AVG 19 R 5 HR 20 RBI 3 SB

Goldschmidt started the year in a huge slump, but has picked it up as of late. Should be a nice nab to fill in at 1B with a couple steals you usually don’t get out of the position.

#4). Felix Doubront BOS SP 3.75 ERA 1.35 WHIP 66 K 6 W 2 L

Doubront has been one of the few consistents in Boston’s messy starting rotation. After a rocky start he has been pumping out quality starts and most importantly turning those quality starts into wins.

#5). Justin Smoak SEA 1B .241 AVG 19 R 10 HR 29 RBI 1 SB

Similar to Goldschmidt, Smoak started the year slow but has picked it up as of late. I downgrade him only little bit, due to the inferior lineup around him and SafeCo being a notorious pitchers park.

Buy Low, Sell High

Buy- Max Scherzer DET SP 5.55 ERA 1.53 WHIP 78 K 21 BB 5 W 3 L

All of Scherzer’s stats except for his ERA are downright solid if not completely stellar. The guy is eventually going to get a little better luck and you should see that ERA drop all the way to the 3’s. Grab this guy now.

Sell- Brandon Beachy ATL 1.87 ERA 0.95 WHIP 57 K 23 BB 5 W 4 L
Beachy’s league leading ERA has to climb and there is no way his WHIP stay this crazy low. Sell high, you should be able to grab a quality starter and upgrade at a key position with Beachy as the bait.

3 Trends to Watch

#1). Having depth is becoming more and more of a necessity for fantasy owners. Having solid backup to fill in for players such as Kemp, Tulowitzki, Ellsbury, ect. is the only way to have your team not fall apart.

#2). Two underrated starters who will probably be on the move and could see their stock rise are both playing for the Cubs. Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza will probably see themselves traded before the deadline. Both should improve behind a better defense and a change in park.

#3). Another player I would be looking to get rid of at his all-time peak is Melky Cabrera. His BABIP is over .412, this has no chance of keeping up. Add in his surrounding supporting cast and you have to expect him to see pitchers avoid giving him anything to hit regardless.
