With all of Major League Baseball focused on the potential Triple Crown repeat of Miguel Cabrera, the first baseman for the Baltimore Orioles, Chris Davis, is quietly having a season to rival Cabrera’s. Davis is currently first in home runs, second in batting average and second in runs driven in, with Cabrera second, first, and first and those respective categories. With Cabrera bringing in runs on an historic pace, and following up his MVP and Triple Crown season with possibly another one, Davis is sneaking up on him in all three Triple Crown categories. With two months down in the season, Chris Davis has already smashed 20 home runs, and is currently on pace to hit 50 or more jacks over the course of the season. The Orioles franchise record for home runs in one season is exactly at 50, accomplished by Brady Anderson in 1996.
