Johnny Damon has been waiting for the phone to ring all offseason after playing last season with the Tampa Bay Rays. He has been linked to numerous teams as we draw closer to Spring Training, yet Damon remains unsigned less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the 2012 MLB Season.
In 150 games for Tampa last season, Damon hit .261 with 16 home runs and 73 RBI. He also scored 79 runs and stole 19 bases, which was quite productive considering his age and lower salary. Also considering that Damon has played in at least 141 games in every season since 1995, it is extremely puzzling why Damon is still looking for a home this season.
Just 277 hits away from 3,000 for his career, Damon still offers a lot to a team in search of a part time outfielder and designated hitter who can bring some veteran leadership to a team.
