Baltimore Orioles: The week that was in Birdland (Sept. 11th)

In terms of playing and winning games, you might not consider this such a bad week for the Baltimore Orioles, all things considering. The O’s had a very interesting series in NY against the Yankees before heading home for a “one-game series” against those same Yankees, and then onto Toronto this weekend. Tuesday night’s game was played in a torrential rain, and it didn’t start until just after 11 PM. The Orioles then turned around and beat the Yankees the next afternoon (or a few hours later depending upon your perspective), before heading home to play the Yanks again in a makeup game. Go figure, the O’s beat ‘em in extras once again. There’s no question that these Orioles are playing out a string of games to merely get to the end of the season at this point, however we’re also starting to learn a few things about some of the younger players we’re starting to see.
