The 5th inning was Scott Feldman’s undoing tonight.  Until that point, he was cooking right along in a tie game.  The Orioles only managed one (unearned) run on three hits in the first four frames.   But then Feldman hit a wall, and the Baltimore bats hit him.  Four runs on four hits, including two singles, a triple and a home run. All of a sudden, the Rangers were down 5-1, with their only run credited to an Ian Kinsler 3rd inning home run.  It was one of those trademark ones to left field, by the way.  Geovany Soto decided he wanted in on that action though, and he hit a two-run shot to left in the 7th. Then again, he kind of owed the team that after his error helped the unearned run score. The Rangers had a chance to continue that 7th inning rally with two on and Josh Hamilton stepping up to the plate.   Hamilton saw a lot of pitches, but swung at some really bad ones.  He actually struck out on what would have been ball five if he hadn’t decided to take a crack at it. Rally over...

Holland, Dempster impersonate Harry Caray

ARLINGTON, Texas Left-hander Derek Holland has been the man when it comes to Harry Caray impersonations with the Texas Rangers. The acquisition of Ryan Dempster at the trade deadline last month changed that. Holland, who took his Caray work to a national level last year during the World Series, got a chance to work with the godfather of Caray impersonations last week when the...

Top-prospect Profar ready for call to the bigs

FRISCO-- Jurickson Profar has truly had an impressive season at Double-A Frisco. Through 114 games, the Rangers top prospect was hitting .280 with 14 HR, 61 RBI and had also stolen 15 bases for the Rough Riders. As if those numbers weren't notable enough, he also ranks 10th in the Texas League in slugging percentage at .461 and 11th in OPS at .823. In short, the 19-year-old...

Rangers reinstate Dempster from restricted list

Ryan Dempster has been reinstated from the restricted list to start the opener of the Texas Rangers' homestand. The AL West-leading Rangers reinstated Dempster before Monday night's game against Baltimore. Outfielder Leonys Martin, who was recalled Friday to take Dempster's roster spot, was optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock. Dempster has given up eight runs in two...

Wash doesn't feel pressure to play prospects

For whatever reason, there's a segment of fans who seem more concerned about the 2015 Texas Rangers than what happening this season. Even some of my colleagues in the media seem obsessed with trying to trade All-Star shortstop Elvis Andrus to make room for one of the top prospects in baseball, Jurickson Profar. There seems to be such a fascination with the unknown that it causes...

Nick Markakis: Mr.Consistent

Baltimore’s Nick Markakis continues to get it done For anyone who watches Orioles games regularly you notice a few different things. Jim Palmer is head over heals in love with Jim Palmer, J.J “ballso” Hardy catches everything hit within 100 feet of him, and Nick Markakis has no emotions what so ever. In fact it almost looks as if Markakis has the most miserable job on...

Slowly Back Away from the Pythag Expectation

For most of 2012, the Baltimore Orioles have been playing over their heads. Well, at least when it comes to their expected win-loss record. Based on the run differential the team has generated, the O’s have amassed 10 more wins than we would expect based on their Pythagorean winning percentage. The team has outplayed its cumulative expected winning percentage throughout the year...

Dempster leads the way as Rangers handle O's

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Ryan Dempster pitched eight innings, his longest outing in more than two months and his best since being traded to Texas, and the AL West-leading Rangers beat the surprising Baltimore Orioles 5-1 on Monday night. Dempster (2-1 in Texas, 7-6 overall) retired the last 11 batters he faced. The right-hander acquired from the Chicago Cubs on July 31 allowed one...

Texas' Adrian Beltre hits 3 homers

Adrian Beltre has hit three home runs in his first three at-bats against the Baltimore Orioles, including two in the Texas Rangers' nine-run fourth inning. Beltre hit his first homer Wednesday night leading off the second against Tommy Hunter. With that long ball, he became the ninth third baseman in major league history with 10 seasons of at least 20 home runs. He connected...

Beltre blasts Rangers past Orioles

Adrian Beltre hit three home runs, including two in a nine-run fourth inning, and had five RBI in the Texas Rangers' 12-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. Beltre hit his first homer leading off the second against former teammate Tommy Hunter. He connected again off Hunter for a two-run shot with none out in the fourth. He then hit another two-run drive...

Orioles Pull One Out in Texas; Rubber Game Tonight...

Again, the Baltimore Orioles continue to amaze. It is now August 22nd and they are still in the playoff hunt, plus they still hold the second wild card spot. The amazing season continued as they won again, this time in Texas against the Rangers, 5-3. After a loss on Monday night, they bounced back yesterday as Chris Tillman’s (6-2) nice outing combined with the bullpen and...

Orioles 5, Rangers 3

Nate McLouth's two-run home run keyed Baltimore's four-run fifth inning and the Orioles held off the Texas Rangers 5-3 Tuesday night. Chris Tillman (6-2) gave up three runs on six hits and struck out seven and walked one in 6 2-3 innings before giving way to the Orioles' bullpen, which now has a 1.57 ERA in the last 18 games. Jim Johnson worked a scoreless ninth to pick...

Rangers 12, Orioles 3

Adrian Beltre hit three home runs, including two in a nine-run fourth inning, and had five RBIs in the Texas Rangers' 12-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. Beltre hit his first homer leading off the second against former teammate Tommy Hunter. He connected again off Hunter for a two-run shot with none out in the fourth. Ryan Dempster and Derek Holland Announce Highlights as Harry Caray

Ryan Dempster and Derek Holland had some fun in the MLB Fan Cave. The two pitchers announced some MLB highlights as legendary Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray. I guess Dempster had picked up some tips from Will Ferrell already. And Holland has some television experience outside of baseball. These guys are are a hilarious. I’m hoping they bring out some extra cheers if the Rangers...

Texas Rangers fan does Soulja Boy parody song for Yu Darvish (Video)

As it has been previously noted on this website, I'm not a huge fan of fan-made parody music videos but this one is pretty good. Check out rapper Smosy paying tribute to Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish with this track called, "Do The Yu": (Courtesy of Sweater Punch)

Video: Derek Holland and Ryan Dempster With Strong Harry Caray Impressions

Dempster has a stronger Harry Caray. He commits to the character. Derek just wings it and is a good sport. Will Ferrell would be proud of Ryan’s impression. I would have loved to have heard where the conversation would have went if they asked each other if they would eat the moon if it were [...]
