Another year of All-Star team selections, another year of the Oakland A’s only getting one representative. Despite having a 51-37 record and being one of the league’s most successful teams thus far in 2013, Bartolo Colon will be the A’s lone representative. Both third baseman Josh Donaldson (.313/.381/.522 with 15 home runs and 57 RBIs) and Grant Balfour (riding a 40-game consecutive saves streak as the *only* closer in MLB that hasn’t blown a save in 2013) were snubbed. Susan Slusser noted that as the A’s pitching rotation is currently set up, Colon may end up unable to pitch at the ASG – which would presumably open up a spot for Balfour’s inclusion, should the people in charge decide to go that route. More feedback from Balfour and Donaldson, as recalled by Slusser: Josh Donaldson on Balfour snub: “I don’t know if there are better numbers than perfect. I don’t get why he’s not on the team.” #Athletics — Susan Slusser (@susanslusser) July 6, 2013 And Donaldson on his own snub: Donal
