TEAMS: St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets
Yesterday, before the B.A.T. dinner in New York, Carlos Beltran said he believes Mets fans are going to love newly-acquired OF Andres Torres, who Beltran played with on the Giants last season.
“He’s a good guy that really works hard,” Beltran explained. “He has a lot of energy and a lot of passion for what he does. He’s a strong human being.”
According to Beltran, if Torres can have a year like he did in 2010, “It’s going to be fun for Mets fans to watch him play.”
Here is the rest of Beltran’s Q&A with reporters from yesterday:
Question: Did you feel you were under-appreciated by the fans and media during your time with the Mets?
Carlos Beltran: I really enjoyed myself here in New York. If that’s how some people felt about me, then that’s how they feel. There is nothing I can do about it. I enjoyed my time here playing with the Mets. We went through a lot of ups and downs as a team, but, actually, I feel li...

Carlos Beltran Says Mets Fans Should Get Over the 2006 NLCS
Any highly-paid player who does not bring a championship to a bitter fan base is at risk of becoming a scapegoat. When the Mets signed Carlos Beltran to a seven-year, $119 million contract back in 2005, their fans immediately began thinking “World Series or bust.” They were almost treated to a World Series trip in 2006, but they fell just short in the NLCS and remained...
Marriage of Beltran & Mets Fans Was Doomed From Start
It was inevitable that Carlos Beltran would be asked about his New York experience one last time during the B.A.T charity dinner on Monday. “I’m not thinking about the fans, I’m thinking about myself,” Beltran said to reporters. He added that “we can’t bring 2006 back to 2012. It has been six years. If they want to continue to think about that moment, then that’s...
Cards a good fit for Beltran despite '06 NLCS
Chalk it up to baseball's bizarre sense of symmetry that, when faced with his first free-agent decision in seven years this offseason, Carlos Beltran's most comfortable fit came with the Cardinals.
Are Mets fans over 2006?
Carlos Beltran seems ready to move on his from his post-Mets career by writing a new chapter for himself in St. Louis.
Doesn’t it seem ironic that Beltran is ready to turn the page with a team that he is so symmetrically intertwined with? As you all are aware, it was Beltran who took a called third-strike at the end of Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals...
Carlos Beltran Receives Bart Giamatti Award At MLB B.A.T. Dinner
Sadly, Carlos Beltran’s Mets legacy will forever be defined by what he didn’t do: take the bat off his shoulder against Adam Wainwright during Game 7 of the 2006 NLCS.
However, Beltran meant so much to the Mets organization over the past seven years for his work on and off the field.
He was honored at MLB’s annual B.A.T. dinner as the recipient of the Bart Giamatti Award for...

It's Not That Complicated
So hey, Carlos Beltran had some things to say:
"What happened in 2006, you have to turn the page. That’s over. We can’t bring 2006 back to 2012. It has been six years. If they want to continue to think about that moment, then that’s their problem. Like I said, I have turned the page. I have really moved on."
Listen Carlos, you were paid good money by the Mets. Why...
Cards' Carlos Belts Met fans over 2006 strikeout
There is no need to update Carlos Beltran’s relationship status with the people of New York to “it’s complicated” — that has remained unchanged since 2005.

NO CARLOS BELTRAN I WON’T GET OVER 2006, NOR SHOULD I
Mike Silva at NY Baseball Digest has an outstanding piece on his site this morning on Carlos Beltran and his time as a Met and his comments on Mets fans needing to “get over 2006”.
I have to say it took me a while to appreciate Beltran and his contribution during his tenure. I think the turning point in the relationship came when Beltran went to Colorado to have surgery on his...

Trio of Mets hurlers among Top 100 Prospects
It started with Matt Harvey, the college product with the big right arm. Then Jeurys Familia began outpitching his projections, and one became two. Soon after, the Mets traded Carlos Beltran for another top arm, Zack Wheeler, and two grew to three. Wheeler, Harvey and Familia all landed on MLB.com's 2012 Top 100 Prospects list, released Wednesday.
