It’s been tough to bet on the Mets this season, literally or figuratively. Whether your consider your investment in the team emotional or you’re actually putting your money on the line, your return on investment has not been good in 2013. I like the occasional sports bet but have a hard time wagering against my team, especially the Mets. I have other friends that don’t share the same problem and have adopted the philosophy that if the team is going to disappoint them on the field, they might as well try and profit from their poor play.
I can see how that makes sense, I mean you know more about the team you root for than any other, but it’s hard to put aside being a fan when you’re betting and that can complicate things. So for now, if I feel like betting on the Mets games, I’ll wait till Matt Harvey is on the mound or stick to the over/unders.
For today’s series finale against the Cubs it’s hard to bet confidently on Dillon Gee (2-5, 6.13 ERA), especially when he’s squaring off against Travis Wood. Wood is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.03 and has given up 3 or less runs while going at least 6 innings in all 8 of his 2013 starts. Wood was also 2-0 with 1.38 ERA against the Mets last season and New York is hitting just .233 against lefties this season.
So, not wanting to bet against the Mets, maybe sticking with the over/under bet is the way to go for this game. The over has hit in 7 of NY Mets’ last 9 games when playing in Wrigley and in 5 of the last 6 home games for the Cubbies (7 of the last 9 while playing the Mets at home). The over it is!
Of course, if after looking over all the online betting sites and comparing the latest odds on the Mets you decide that no play is the right play for you, trying your luck on a game of baseball slots at an online casino is another option. One of the best of these baseball slots games is undoubtedly ‘Hot Shot’, a five reel, nine pay line video slot. From the minute you start it is baseball all the way, with the reel icons being of familiar baseball sights like pitchers, hitters, catchers’ mitts and a baseball, all set against the background of a lush green field. The sound effects utilized in Hot Shot are another reason why it is such a good game, with crowd sounds heard throughout, but rising from a murmur to a roar when you score a win with the gold trophy scatter symbol – while normal winning reels are greeted by the sound of a bat whacking a baseball. You stand a pretty good chance of winning money by playing Hot Shot too, thanks to the nine pay lines and the presence of a wild symbol (the burning baseball). If nothing else, maybe some slots will help take your mind off the Mets on-field woes, if only for a little while.

A Chicago Cubs fan in the left field bleachers at Sunday's game at Wrigley Field tried to be a gentleman and protect his wife from a home run ball, but ended up getting doused with her full cup of beer.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning as Cubs pitcher Travis Wood homered to left field. The man tried to protect his wife...
It’s no secret. Cubs fans go to Wrigley Field for the beer and sun. If a baseball game breaks out, it’s an added bonus. During Sunday’s game against the Mets, Cubs starting pitcher Travis Wood clobbered a home run that left the park. But, it wasn’t for a valiant effort by Joe Cubsfan. Watch in the video below as Joe tries to make a web gem of a catch while maintaining...
It is one way to celebrate, just not cost effective. In Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs one woman dumped a beer on her partner to the game after he missed a home run off the bat of pitcher Travis Wood.
Wood’s home run came in the fifth inning and narrowly was out of the reaching grasp of the man. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead on the blast but the Mets would come back and win the...
Matt Harvey just cannot be stopped. The Mets rookie improved to 5-0 on the season in New York's 3-2 win over the Cubs on Friday night, giving up just two runs in 7 1/3 and striking out six without a walk. His fastball averaged 96 over the 106 total pitches he threw over the evening, topped out at 99, and he *still* broke 96 in the seventh inning. With Harvey, Shelby Miller, and...

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets are appealing to Major League Baseball to slice Matt Harvey‘s ERA from 1.55 to 1.41, which would be within one point of the major league lead shared Clayton Kershaw and Shelby Miller.
Adam says that the thrust of the argument is that there should have been a straight error on Ruben Tejada‘s throw that bounced past Ike Davis and...
Wrigley Field is known for having Chicago Cubs fans getting extremely drunk during their usually futile seasons. During Sunday’s game against the New York Mets a once happy Cubs couple had alcohol ruin their day. In the fifth inning Cubs pitcher Travis Wood smacked a home run to left field and headed straight towards a woman who wasn’t paying attention. Her hero husband tried...

Everybody is focusing on the fact that the Mets don't have a victory following a Matt Harvey start this season, and are 3-16 in those situations lifetime. It's like a Matt Harvey start is washing down five hour energy with a Red Bull and a shot of heroin. The crash after that is brutal ... so I've heard.
The good news is that the Mets are 12-7 in games following Jeremy...

Fantasy baseball 3×3 is back again. This week, we’re catching Big Erv, resisting the impulse to trade Paul Goldschmidt, and grabbing a spot on Waveland Avenue for Travis Wood’s next start.

The Mets have lost seven of their last ten games, including a sweep by the Pirates and a near-sweep by the Cardinals. Luckily for the Mets, they have the Marlins in their division so it will be difficult to drop into last place. I was surprised to read that they've placed foruth in the division for four straight years – it seems like just yesterday they were blowing big leads...
