I have never understood the point of paying a whole truckload of money just to talk with someone.  This irks me especially when it comes to professional sports teams.  I understand the concept; you are paying for the right to take a player off of their team in another country which is really just compensation.  Hey, I’m all for compensation but when we’re talking about amounts upwards of $50 million isn’t that maybe just a little bit of overkill?  It seems that the Asian market has taken over and isn’t taking any prisoners because when’s the last time some American team paid millions of dollars to try and negotiate a deal for some guy out of the mountains of Switzerland?  Nothing comes to mind.
