700 Level:
One of quite a few sad stats from last night's 5-1 loss to the Red Legs is that, on his 30th birthday, Jayson Werth went 0-4 with three K's. It was his second straight 0-fer game, so maybe the big 3-0 was hanging a little heavy. Ya know, kinda like the big 2-5-0 for Jamie Moyer.
Pappy pitched better last night, earning the quality start we all needed to see, but it wasn't good enough in this case. The Phils bats just couldn't bail him out, with the lone bright spot coming once again from Raul Ibanez, who crushed yet another homer. Ibanez continues to mash regardless of the situation, and he now sits at 14 HR and a whopping 37 RBI.
Jimmy Rollins again looked like he was pressing at the plate, perhaps having read this article from the Sporting News' fantasy site. Yes, Young James is the most disappointing SS in fantasy this year, and Fantasy Source is even considering re-naming their All-Flop Team awards after him (The Rollies). Considering he's MY fantasy shortstop (bought low!) as well as the leadoff man on my Fightins, I can understand the frustration. Still, I'm certain he'll swing his way out of it.
