The Bisons end of the month struggles have gotten worse and worse over the course of the last two months.
After recovering from a horrendous finish to June to get back into playoff contention, the Herd has somehow managed to lose 9 of their last 11 games, once again falling out of contention in the IL Wild Card race with one month left in the season.
The Bisons gave Indianapolis a fight for most of Monday evening’s contest but a four-run 7th inning by the Indians was too much for the Herd to overcome as Indy went on to win 6-2.
Buffalo only trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the 7th when Jeff Clement got his only hit of the night, a 3-run RBI double to put the Indians up 5-1, effectively giving Indy the game.
Jenrry Mejia started for the Bisons on the night but lasted only three innings, allowing one run on four hits. Mejia typically comes out of the bullpen, which could explain why his outing lasted so short.
