I hate to say it but I told you so. Casey Blake has apparently come down with a rather serious infection. Blake, who was placed on the disabled list with an infection of the olecranon bursa in his left elbow. Blake's infection was serious enough to require IV antibiotics, and will likely require minor surgery to drain and clean the area out. Yucky, very yucky. Blake, 37, has only seen 14 out of 26 games this season mainly due to injury, and now his latest may shelve him for at least a month. It appears Blake's body is breaking down, we've seen signs of it dating back to the beginning of last season. I've been saying it since November, but Blake is simply better suited for a bench role with the team. He's such a valuable player to have around in so many ways, management just needs a wake-up call and hopefully this is it.Meanwhile, Russ Mitchell gets another shot at the show and we shall see what he can do with the opportunity.
