Blue Jays Rant:
Jo-Jo Reyes took the mound for the Blue Jays in their series opener against the Pirates tonight, and even though the righty has hidden his pitching ineptitude behind a little bit of bad luck over his starts this year, his 7th loss was all vintage Jo-Jo, as he was unable to make it out of the 4th inning in an otherwise thrilling slugfest that ended with the Blue Jays losing narrowly to the Pirates 6-7.
It’s not exactly a secret that I hate the fact that Jo-Jo is a part of the Jays rotation; and after watching him pitch tonight, how could you not? He’s doing the exact same thing as he’s done all season – throw meatballs up and over the plate all night and pray for probability to save him – and I think batters may finally be catching up to it. Tonight, he allowed 6 runs on 9 hits over 3.2 innings of work, including a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning to rookie Alex Presley, who was making his first MLB start this season.
