The Blue Jays parted ways with five minor-leaguers, one to be named at the end of August. They parted with two major-leaguers in reliever Francisco Cordero, who had outstayed his welcome in Toronto, and reserve outfielder Ben Francisco, who received little playing time. The Blue Jays, who beat the Red Sox 6-1 Friday, get immediate pitching help in left-hander J.A. Happ and right-hander Brandon Lyon, who broke into the majors with Toronto. Right-hander David Carpenter also came over from the Astros but was shipped to Class-AAA Las Vegas.
